Hmm sounds quite convincing, I must admit. It is possible based on my understanding.

Based on what I have read around these forums in the past I have seen people talk about carriers tweaking updates so 2G,3G,4G etc works better for people on their network i.e. better signal etc

Basically it's signal strength on an unlocked Blackberry/carrier issued Blackberry with the default Blackberry OS vs carrier tweaked OS

Signal strength will be better on the latter due to the tweaks made to work better on the network.

As for the delay releasing the update on T-Mobile and Orange which uses 3G maybe this is because the update is released over the EE network so EE won't release them till they release their update. If memory serves me right all 3 updates (EE, Orange and T-Mobile) where released all at the same time last time.

    But I could be wrong...

Fair enough , so why keep feeding people with BS and why not just tell us it will be late due to XXXXX ?

    I'm on Orange.
I know how awful this network is.
I got a free Vodafone sim from their website and am now rocking 10.1, have been since release date.
No issues whatsoever. Not a single extra penny spent.
My contract expires in a month. Ta-ra Orange...

Got told numerous times yesterday from different departments in ee that blackberry haven't even made a 10.1 update. Even when the assistant that worked there checked this website they still told me that it's utter crap. Fuming with ee to say the least

Rubbish I'm not having that! They must of got the package ages ago, why is it other carriers can sort it out but with EE its always a battle

I'm not sure but it is infuriating when they respond with comments like "No eta", "There is no update", "Blackberry don't tell carriers until release date", "We are still carrying out tests" etc... really?

People from nearly every corner of the world were reporting that their carrier had released the update but yet EE who may well be holding up the update release for 2 other carriers (Orange and T-Mobile) and who claim to be "superfast" are still lagging way behind with the BS they tell their customers. There is absolutely no way Blackberry gave them this update at the last minute!

Just to add to this thread the feedback I had from CS at EE this morning regarding this update.

I queried this update and they helpful woman advised me that they anticipate it being rolled out OTA progressively across the network, with completion by the end of May.

Phoned EE today to be told the 10.1 update is being tweaked to work with the 4G network and should be available within the next few days. They also said that the other networks have released it already because none of them use 4G. I'm not a great tech head but find this a little hard to believe. Any comments?
Yep, 4G works great, with no tweaking on 10.1

On orange UK, phoned them yesterday, they denied all knowledge, bought a Vodafone sim, cut it down to sized and updated to 10.1 using that, no problems to report. :-)

It's annoying how we pay top prices for their 4G yet always get poorer/slower service than most other providers in the UK

Don't suppose they gave you a start date for their progression?

Updates technically arent a service and its in their small print that updates are at manufacturers discretion and testing.

Ive asked them for money off and they blatantly said no

Yeah, exactly what they told me. Their reasoning was they wanted 6 months payement history, despite the fact that they now own Orange, whom I was with for 6 years. Muppets.
