I expected to pick up my Z10 and type away with two thumbs as I have done on various BlackBerrys for the past seven years.

But no. Tried that but feels as though I'm going to drop the Z10. Hence I now hold in left hand and type away with first finger of right. Result is nothing like as accurate as I was with the 9900 etc

I've had the Z10 2 weeks now and typing not improving.

Do you successfully use two thumbs like the good old days?

Mixture of both. Mostly use two thumbs, but also one fingered at times too.

Totally use two thumbs. I am sure that there are many ways. I have my left pinky under the bottom of the unit.

Omg two thumbs for sure. The z10 is the best digital keyboard I have ever used man. Far superior than iPhone and even android. It is on par with swift key and slightly better than my Windows Phone 8 keyboard. Maybe it's just not for you. I would give it another chance and try typing with two thumbs

Right thumb does the typing and word flick on double duty
Disabled the predictive text which frees up space bar adding words...typing faster than on the 9900.

I'm a devil for typing cos I need physical keys due to stiff joints, need to be able to feel the keys. But, use two thumbs, go like fury and be brave. The Z10 keyboard sorts all the nonsense out and makes sensible words. Try it, trust it, and let it type for you xx

Phone lays in first 3 fingers of left hand, pinky below for support. Type two thumbs like a madman.

Hardcore typer coming from a physical keyboard BB's in the past,

Two thumbs typing is probably twice as fast on the z10. +1 on the pinky method

Single hand typing is a LOT easier on my 9900.

I do it with two thumbs, without having to look at the keyboard much as the predictive text is solid. Just type away even if the letters appear gibberish. It will be fine.

I type with two thumb. The trick is to trust the auto correct... Its one of the best out there. I don't even look at the keyboard.... I just look at the text.
