I am using the z10 since few days...and i am wondering if it could be a good idea not to turn it off overnight but still charging it. I find it takes forever to be ready when you turn it on in the morning. Any suggestions concerning this ?
    Thanks

I always leave my phone on overnight. I think I've only restarted it 3 times since I've gotten it... no issues yet

I think I can speak for most of us here when I say this, because I never turn off my phone at night. My z10 stays plugged in by my side and is ready to go when I get up in the morning. So, I guess to answer your question...no, you won't harm your z10 if you charge it overnight without turning it off

Don't usually turn off my Z10.
Maybe a fresh boot after a few app installs to clean things up.

I usually only reboot my Z10 every few days. I charge it in beside mode overnight.

Now that does bring up an interesting idea for those having battery issues, though. What if, when people with battery drain issues put their phone on charge at night, they turn it off before putting it on charge. I'm pretty sure those with persistent battery issues have just been plugging it in like everyone else without turning it off. I know it would seem that if everyone else were charging their phones without powering off, everyone would have the same issue...but what if powering off before charging actually corrected this issue.
    Just a thought.

3 minutes is really not that long of a time, especially when compared to older BB devices.

3 minutes is not anything to get hung about, when you go do other important morning tasks... 3 minutes is a long time when you watch it. A watched pot never boils.

And do periodic restarts when it is convenient for you

Like any new operating system, there will be memory leaks caused by bad apps, OS bugs and the like.

Same here, I leave it on always.... Just make sure to give it a reboot every now and then to keep things inline.

I turned it off at night since day one and I never had battery issue. but when I was on the road I did not turn it off at night and I had more issues that way like button freezing when tried to call, app not opening and probably more that I don't remember. So Anyway I don't think 3 minutes is a long time. turn it on and do something else during that time like breakfast

You guys are looking at 3 minutes full boot ups? Wow. Mine takes 60-90 seconds... What OS are you on, people?

Older devices used to have Auto On/Off. We already requested this feature in BetaZone, let's see it if makes into BB10.

As a workaround, if you set the phone to AirPlane mode and then sleep bedside mode (the red clock thing) it should not take more than 5% of your battery over 8 hours.

well...i said 3 mintues...but i think it is more than that...i was using a torch 9800 before and a curve 8350 before...and those two devices were way much more faster to turn on than the z10

:O. Torch 9800...no way mine wasn't any where near 3 minutes. It was more like 10 minutes. Don't forget that OS6 and OS7 devices had suspend/resume masquerading as a power off/on.

I had a Curve 8900 then a Torch 9800 and then a Torch 9810 before my Z10 and all of them took really long time for a full power off/on cycle.

My Z10 is the fastest BlackBerry I've owned for a full restart (around 5 minutes)
