I went in this evening to get the $40 GO plan for my Z10 and was informed that the data fester was not provided, just text, phone and etc. NO Data. WTF I said and he said it's his understanding that the reason is that BlackBerry servers bla bla. So is this the case for Tmob as well. Verizon is out as I have a Canadian ph.

The $40/month go phone package does come with data, but only 200MB/Month you can add an additional 100MB if you run out for $5. If you want any real data you would have to do the $60 which comes with 2GB/Month.

If you are not getting any data, check settings>Mobile Network>APN it should just say "phone"
On the page before (The Mobile Network Page) under available networks it should show AT&T 4G- Voice/Data

You may have misunderstood me. AT&T has a GO plan but the plan for BlackBerry phones does not include ANY data. If I had an I phone no problem I could have data as per your comments.

No, the rep you talked to gave you information based on legacy devices. BlackBerry 10 does not require any BIS package to operate and uses the same pathways android does to connect. If necessary PM me and I will give you an IMEI you can use to register it properly on the network, however your own should work fine.

No problem, I work at an AT&T store the real problem is that most reps don't know anything about BlackBerry 10

Checked again at the store and yes I can get data for the BlackBerry smartphone but I can not have bbm or access to BlackBerry World. I'm somewhat pissed what's the point in having an unlocked unit if I have to enter into a contract to get full use of Z10???

I'm pretty sure it will work anyway... again the information they gave you was for legacy. I'm fairly certain that I've read of people using bb10 with android data plans and having no issues. I should be able to check for you tomorrow when I get to work.

Don't the prepaid plans set the APN to wap.cingular.net or something like that?

"wap.cingular" is the UMTS apn for 3G. For newer devices the apn is just "phone"

ATT does work. The employee's are referencing older BB devices. BB10 is all ran with Data now and doesnt need the special BB packages like in the past.

Doesn't the email go over Blackberry servers? You would have to use a 3rd party email client or go webmail.

It is true the browser no longer uses BIS, but I am reasonably sure the email still does.

My email, both Gmail and an Earthlink POP account, work over wifi on my Z10 on AT&T without the mobile net turned on. No BIS involved.

I use a Q10 on AT&Ts MVNO Straight Talk with full data/MMS utilizing the escreen. Couldn't you go through the escreen and put in the APN there?

Maybe calling it BIS is wrong, but BlackBerry certainly is in the loop for email.

It's not just blackberry. AT&T does not offer data for 4G phones if they are on a prepaid plan. That goes for ios and androids

That is 1 article explaining it. Alot of mail systems do this to setup your settings for you. Just like autodiscovery. Someone just took something they seen and ran wild with it to bash blackberry.

    BB is not that stupid.

What the hell are you accusing me of? All I'm saying is BlackBerry servers have access to your email just like they did under BIS. It is just the browser that no longer uses BIS.
