I have had my z10 since the beginning. I am asking myself if I should ditch it and get another newer BlackBerry device. Never had any issues with the phone except battery. After 2,5 years it is getting a little old though.

Is there a new z series coming. It is my understanding that the leap has similar specs as the z30. Not really an upgrade. Are there rumors for newer devices that are worthwhile to wait for? What is the timeline in the slider?

The z10 is very similar to the leap, not the Z30.

Full Touch wise, the z30 is the best spec wise, but even that's getting on a little now

The Z10 is only similar to the Leap in its dimensions. The Leap loses NFC, the gyroscope and compass. There is no HDMI port either.

No, hold off. There's new life for the Z10 since 10.3.2. Buy a new spare battery and case and enjoy the best one handed VKB produced.

Fact: The Z30 is the most powerful all-touch BlackBerry device as of Sunday, 12 July 2015.

I was thinking the same but Z10 is one of the best BB10 OS device for me. Might wait for a couple of months before making a decision to grab Passport.

Yes, I was comparing the Leap and the Z10. The Z10 has a better screen than the Z30, especially if you need to see the screen outside in the sun.

I've never had any problems with my z30 in the sun :P If anything I prefer it to my old z10

I wish they would have kept the same size but had extended you screen size to fill up more of the available space.

I've been using my Z30 for a few months but decided to use my Z10 again. This size really fits great in my hand.

I totally agree with you. The size of the Z10 is perfect. If anything I'd like to see it just a tad bigger but maybe not as big as the 30.

While looking forward to down the road devices I just can't see myself using something that is near tablet size to communicate with

Why don't they release bigger batteries compatible with Z10 and that might sought out the problem and rest device is still perfect to use

If it's still working I say no. If a high spec BlackBerry 10 slider comes out then maybe. I ditched mine and regretted it for right months while on android. Now I'm back and I'm not leaving for a good while.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why you keep debating me. I never originally compared the Z30, it is a great phone. Many reviews talk about the difference in the screens. The Z30 uses an AMOLED screen, which generally is less readable in direct sunlight. The Q10, which also uses an AMOLED screen, was worse, but they did much better with the Z30. In general practice though, the Z10 will be more readable in direct bright sunlight. I'm glad you don't have issues. I often use mine near the equator and that is about as direct as it gets, many screens have issues under the conditions.

Now, back to my original thoughts. The Leap is not an upgrade from the Z10. The Z30 is a great phone, although the screen is different, it is an AMOLED screen which displays deeper blacks, although some people report more difficulty seeing the screen well in direct light.

He's a Z30 fan, that's all. I, like you, prefer the Z10's spec: size, screen etc. Yes the battery issue - but OS10.3.2 has improved that to some degree. I would buy a z10 upgrade tomorrow if it were available, and I'm sure there are a lot of other Z10 fans who would do the same. The current trend for phablet sized phones leaves me cold, I want a phone that fits in my pocket - not in my briefcase. So I'll ditch my Z10 when something reasonably similar comes along - meanwhile it still makes and receives calls, texts & emails. I mean... it's a phone, right. Not a tablet, not a laptop, just a d**n good phone.

I agree. The specs still reveal the current iPhone 6. The only worthy successor to the Z10 is BlackBerry Slider aka Venice.

The z30 is the best touch device, directly followed by the z10.

The z3 and leap are coming in as budget devices, but are newer.

So if you have the z10 there isn't really a point to go to the z30, except of the screen size and humongous battery (screen resolution is actually far better on the z10 then z30, but the z30 has the natural looking amoled screen)

Buying a leap or z3 would be a downgrade from your z10. But the leap has a bigger screen and battery.
