I've been debating the Z30 as well.
My only concern is the display. The one on the z30 isn't as bright and only has 294 ppi while the z10 has better brightness and a ppi of 356.
Hopefully the new z20 will address those issues as well as increase the screen size to atleast 4.8 inches.

What is the Z20, when is it supposed to be out, and where is there any information about it? A Z50 has long been rumored as a successor to the Z10. Or is BlackBerry maybe finished developing new hardware after the passport?

I just got my son the Z30 last week and it is a very impressive phone and has me a little jealous but I am sticking with my Z10 because I can still use it with one hand.

I bought an external 4500 mAh battery from eBay for $20. I now get 14 to 20 hours of battery life. 14 hours if I am using the phone heavily. I am a heavy user.

The Z30 is a lot of fun for personal reasons. The Z10 is my business phone. The sound on the Z10 is good enough for phone calls and talking over the speaker phone but not nearly as good for watching Netflix. The camera and video taking quality looks much sharper and sounds crisper on the Z30. I compare both screens and I think the Z30 is a wow factor.

I cannot go to the Z30 as my main phone because I have a huge battery in my Z10 and the convenience factor of being able to handle my communications with one hand is the most important factor.

Easier one handed operation, brighter screen, removable battery. Otherwise the z30 is superior.

Z10 smaller, removable battery. z30 is a cleaner look so I like it better.

Does the 4500 battery require a different back for the Z10 and does it still fit in a regular Z10 holster or case?

The only reasons I would go to Z10 vs Z30 is:

    - Z10 feels like the perfect size
    - Z10 screen is more vibrant (have to see side by side as Z30 has good display)
    - removable battery (non issue for me on Z30)

I have used both, love both and wouldn't be upset with either, however once I used Z30 as main driver would never go back to Z10 (now have Passport)

Note: Z10 missing some features like Miracast and USB host, and the speakers are no match for the Z30. This isn't an issue if you don't listen to music, etc. From phone speakers but use headphones, external speakers, car speakers, etc.

the only 2 advantages I think I would see with the z10 is the size and the display is better. z30 wins most anything else. z10 is $100 cheaper but at $299 the z30 is a better choice by far.
This nails it, imo. Having recently needing to go back to my Z10 after breaking my Z30 screen AGAIN, I can tell you that the Z10 fits much better in the front pocket. And it seems more rugged to me. It just seems I have to worry about it less. The screen is a battery hog on that thing though, but I did keep the brightness up around 75%. For me, the phone came off the charger at 6AM and was down to about 20% between 8 and 10PM, depending on usage. I used mine on Verizon and just never had the battery issues others apparently have. I was even tempted to not replace my Z30, but I really did miss the Z30 after awhile with the bigger screen (even though it is dimmer and not as crisp as the Z10, I don't care what anyone says lol), the better sound and it just seems a little bit faster. If size is the overriding factor, get a battery pack and a decent mini speaker, you should be good.

One other advantage of the Z10 I haven't seen mentioned is that I almost never accidentally press the power button or the volume rocker and mute buttons on the Z10.

The 4500 mAh battery will make the phone thicker and heavier. The batter comes with a new back panel. It will not fit any case that I have seen or holster. I actually like the extra weight as I never forget which pocket I put it in.

I have both. Honestly, I love the Z10 way more.

I'm not that much of a power user, though. In a typical day, I send a few FaceBook messages, maybe send 30 texts, compose and reply to make 50 emails a day. Use the GPS as I'm leaving the office to check for traffic (just so I know which way NOT to go), and the Z10 lasts me about 12 hours a day on charge. Oh, and I'm on Candid for maybe an hour a day.

The camera on the Z10 is superior to that on the Z30. And, much faster. And, I love the size. I'm perfectly alright with the smaller screen. I enjoy being able to use all functions of the phone with 1 hand.

The only downside to the Z10 is no FM radio. I was surprised how much I actually listen to the FM radio. But, I downloaded Slacker, and as long as I have Wi-Fi, I'm golden.

Oops posted too soon on accident, but I was thinking z30 only for the battery and speakers, but I own the official BlackBerry Bluetooth mini speaker. The z10 is the right size and battery depends on usage. I charge once a day without a battery swap. I am a moderate-heavy user. If you don't have sync on push then it will last longer. I let it sync hourly. I leave WiFi on only when I use it. I notice that large downloads, vibration and notification sounds pull on the battery. This applies to all models though. Z30 is a great device and I will still get as a backup. I'm focusing on the passport now. Unless they make a z10 successor with Passport specs then Passport it is. BB10 10.3.1 is awesomeness.

My only reason to go with Z10 is the size. I don't want to use my both hands to operate my phone.

Size is my main reason. And cost, of course. I wouldn't want a phone any bigger than my Z10. My preferred size would actually be that of the iPhone 5. I want to be able to put it in my pocket. I actually have found the battery life on my Z10 surpassed all my expectations. I only have to charge it every other day.

I guess I'd like to know how you get that much life, two days, from your Z10. I am not a heavy user, maybe one phone call a day. Not tons of email or bbm stuff. I do browse the web and check Twitter each day (npr and WA State traffic reports on twitter, mainly, nothing personal). The occasional weather app. Stuff does run in the background, BatteryEX, OnLocation (sets profiles and does not seem to use a ton of power anyway). Last night after about 12 or so hours, I got a "warning" as it dropped below 20%.

Mine is a Verizon model, so maybe a different "radio/communication system" but don't know if that affects stuff or not. Middle of Seattle, but who knows, maybe carrier signal is not great. Brightness was about 50% (just turned it down). When I look at Device Monitor, System generally is biggest user with Standby generally after that. I try using Task Manager to kill off Android processes I don't use (they do seem to load without any help from me!)

Also, I have two battery bundles, so I have changed out the batteries on occasion. They all seem to provide about the same daily usage, so I don't think it is any particular battery.

    So I'm curious.

    Really?
I'm getting constant >12h battery life with normal use and >48h on stand-by.
OS latest official 10.2.1, off charger 7.30am, now is 6.30pm, battery charge 52%.

    So I'm curious.
I travel a lot around the city and province and found constant switching between LTE and HSPA+ networks affects battery life. So I use HSPA+ only and the phone never reconnects. Data speed on HSPA+ is more than enough. I don't use swipe-to-unlock, screen digitizer always on drains battery even in idle. I have about 50 apps, including system apps. No need to download and test everything on BB World. No games, I use the phone as communication device. Wifi is always on, brightness 75%, 1-2h phone calls or 1-2h screen-on time (10-15 emails, 20-30 messages, etc.) gives me 12-18h battery life on a standard 1800mAh battery. Switching to LTE gives me about 10-12h, still enough to cover my usual business day.

I have been using my Z30 for about two weeks now since my Z10 died. I have found the Z30 to be an awesome personal device. Been watching a lot of videos on it. As a business phone, used for communications purposes only, I find the z30 too big and clumsy. I really miss my Z10 for business use only. The Z10 you can use it with one hand, again great for business, allowing you to multi task easily.

Exactly. I use the phone mainly for business communications. Battery lasts at least 12h and covers my business day. For watching movies I use a big screen TV with 5.1 surround sound system.

I get great battery for what it has. An LCD and 1800 mah @ 768p on DC 1.5 ghz wouldn't be taxing on an OLED and a 2880 mah @ 720p on DC 1.7 ghz.
Is there any reason to own a Z10 over a Z30?-img_20150130_212604.png

Z10 can be retrofit with a big battery. Works great in one hand, as others have said. Nice screen and form factor.
