Is there any reason to put the battery cover back on the phone before inserting it into the flip case? Leaving the cover off significantly reduces the weight of the device. I know that nfc won't work but I don't use it. An added benefit (besides weight reduction) is that i no longer feel like using a butter knife to remove my phone from the case but it still holds it tight enough that there is no device moment within the case and zero chance of it unintentionally coming out of the case. Have any of you tried it? I highly recommend it. Best case available when you leave the battery door off Imo.

To moving the cover will stop NFC working, beyond this I doubt it would stop anything actually working.

Are you sure the case will fit with out the back?

The back also helps holds in the sim if you have one and the battery. Not sure if your case will also. It also keeps the inside clean.

I can't imagine the back keeps the sim and memory card in and dust out any better than the back of the flip case does. I have been using it like this for a few days without problem, it definitely fits and does so well. It also seems like the device generally runs cooler.

Does it make a real significant difference in the weight?

What would be the point of this? the weight seems negligible...

I agree, it would seem negligible when talking or thinking about it but In practice it feels significantly lighter.. almost half as heavy

I can't imagine that the battery cover is half the weight of the phone given all the components

It's not actually half the weight but it feels a lot lighter. Try it before you knock it

Hey its your phone. Do what ya like. Personally I would keep it on. Cases are not designed to keep dust out of certain areas of your phone. But, like I said, its your phone...

does the flip case close any better? That was an issue when my GF got hers - the case flap wouldn't stay closed completely

I never had that 'won't stay closed' issue with the flip case so I can't speak to it.

That's something I hadn't considered and the kind of feedback I was looking for, thank you!
