I absolutely love my Torch, but both it and the battery are getting worn out. I'm ready for a new phone and have an upgrade with my cell phone plan, but I can't decide if I should get the new Z10 because it's "the latest and greatest" or just buy a new Torch.

I love the BlackBerry button on the Torch and everything it's used for -- is there something as conveniently placed and usable on the new Z10? I only use the touch screen keyboard, so I don't need the sliding one.

What are some advantages that would make buying a Z10 a better choice than a Torch?

Switch. Was a huge step up. Z can do a lot more. The apps will come. If I could just get my talk radio apps it would be perfect

If you liked the torch on-screen keyboard you will love the Z10 keyboard. Never mind the mind blowing hub experience it's totally different. The built for BlackBerry applications are all smooth as silk and I personally enjoy the experience because the UI is clean and similar.

There is no virtual button but what it gets replaced with is all the gestures which is very easy to use once you learn them. Z10 is by far a million times better in my opinion.

I hate to say it but the Torch is what sent me packing from BlackBerry and jumped on the iPhone train. Z10 brought me back and now that I loaded the 4543 leak on it my iPhone is turned off and out of use. Will sell eventually. I really like my Z. Does everything a BlackBerry is known for and does it very well. Not perfect but awful close...... I think you would be very happy with the Z10. Just my humble opinion.

Went from the 9810 to the Z. Everything is a big step forward. It sucks to lose the track pad, but I can get by without too many problems. No problem going to typing on glass as the autocorrect is so good I type by muscle memory and don't keep an eye on the keyboard area.

One big warning. Battery life is a huge step backward. I got through my 20 hour days easily on a single charge with the 9810, with the screen on a 2 minute timeout and brightness at 10 (9810 screen is super bright). Getting 18 hrs out of the Z is very hard with the same usage, and at minimum brightness it is only good for text. Pictures and movies are unviewable. If I had to do it again, I'd get the Q10.

Which Torch do you have? I had a Torch 9810 before getting my Z10, and I thought I'd keep it to put my sim card into after getting my Z10, because I really liked my Torch.

I put it up for sale within a week, and never put my sim card into it ONCE after getting the Z10. The Z10 is so good, you won't even believe that it's by the same company who makes the Torch. Not that there's anything wrong with the Torch, it's just that the Z10 is on a whole other level.

You should definitely get the Z10. The onscreen keyboard of the Z10 is better than the Torch 9810's was for me. The 9810's always felt a little cramped compared to my 9900 (which I also had at the time), and if you like the size of the screen on your Torch 98xx slide or the full touch one (if that's what you have), then you'll really love the screen on the Z10.

I currently am using the torch as well, however I got the wife the Z10 and I pick it up as often as I can. Browsing is ridiculously better on the Z10, amongst many other than things. Good luck with your decision..

Its great but if your upgrade is precious and you can wait or want a bigger phone ..........I would wait for A10. Z10 OS support and growing pains suck. My experience with the hardware has been good but the software upgrade and connections behavior has just about made me regret the Z. For Now. It will get better. If you have Office 2010 and use outlook 365, you will have an easy sync and great email experience. Also if your contact are in Office 2010 you will have no problems with contacts either. Its really the luxury combo here.

I was a doubter as well. Had a torch and loved it but had second thoughts for the Z10.

It's been great since the switch and I've become faster on the Z10 than I was on the torch. Trust the predictive text and you'll be faster.

FYI : I had a Torch 9810, and definitely found typing on it easier than the Z10. However, typing in the Z10 is WAAAY easier than typing on an iPhone or Nexus phone (haven't tried a galaxy recently).

However, I couldn't go back to the 9810 now. The bigger screen, and especially the increased browser performance are well worth the change.

Websites that would take forever to load, or would get the gray grid, now load superfast. Online apps that didn't even work on the 9810 now show up and work perfectly on the Z10.

But keep in mind, there is a sacrifice. Just have to decide if it's worth it for you.

    It definitely was for me.

I stuck with my torch for almost 3 years... a year and a half past my update time for the Z... I too have my torch 9800 still sitting there waiting for when I "can't stand the touch screen keyboard" for day to day... yea, got the Z on launch day from ATT and my sim still hasn't left it. play for a day and it comes natural and you prob won't go back. Do it... just do it

9850 to Z10 here. I really really liked the phone, but the browser, the screen size and the speed of the Z10 sold me.

Took about a month (and leaked OS) to really settle into the Z.

I do miss the BlackBerry push email though, but Live.com email is just about as fast, but not as secure.

Over all the Z10 is my main device but it's nice to know the 9850 is there as a back up. And my 9650 as a back up to that.

Oh, one more thing. You will LOVE how thin the Z10 is compared to the 9810, which was--as much as loved its personality--admittedly on the chubby side

I went from Torch 9800 to Z10. I would do this again in an eye blink. The difference is incredible, you have to experience it to believe.
When I had my Torch, I would put it down when I returned home from the office and switched to my PlayBook. Now PlayBook is collecting dust and I can't put Z10 down. It is so good and so addictive. You will never regret the switch, I promise you.

I had the 9800, then 9810, and it was a pretty decent size step up. From torch to Z10.... world's apart! After a week or two on the Z10 and it starts learning your words and the way you type and you'll be typing just as fast as you could on a keyboard. But you said you typed on the glass.... so you'll be typing twice as fast. trust me, torch to Z10 is a no-brainer....and I put it off for a while too. now I wish in wouldn't have. I was missing out on soooo much!
