Anyone know how to get a breakdown of "other dada"? I have 9.7GB in there which seems like a lot since I don't have a lot of apps. I check the size of them and it's nowhere near that. Thanks in advance.

I THINK the OS comes under "other files". That would be some of it.

Other data is everything that doesn't fit into any of the more specific categories. It does include the OS, all your PIM data, messages, as well as any data held in application sandboxes, or in shared memory that does not fit into the specific categories.

The OS would be a good chunk of it - at least a gig. But also, any and all caches that your loaded apps and the OS create as you use the phone, emails and notifications that come through the hub, your contact lists, any downloaded files you added that the phone doesn't recognize, stuff like that.

Edit: it would seem that Richard was thinking the same thing I was.

About 4 gig is the OS, some is games, some is cache, android side loads, etc.
Side loads fill this up fast and leave a lot behind if only deleted using the device.

This is all bunk other data is a big problem. I just formated my media card and downloaded 3 TV episodes from BlackBerry World. Videos now have 900 mb and other data is 15 gb.

I'm sick of having to format my media card every 2 days. Anyone have a fix?

I should say this problem is media card only internal memory has no problem.

But if you downloaded the tv shows to the internal memory, the "other data" internally would have added 15gb. It's easy to format the memory card and copy the shows back over, but how would you have handled it if they were internal?

This "other data" is really abstract. It would be nice if there were some specifics about what it really includes.

This post is very timely for me. I was actually trying to figure out the same thing this morning. I have 11.4 GB of other. This is after erasing a ton of apps and not seeing much difference.
