I download torrents directly to my phone now and stream to my TV via HDMI...love that effing feature, used to download to my computer, copy to my PlayBook, then stream to my TV.

ANYWAYS, just wondering if the z10 supports srt files...finding torrents with hardcoded subs is much more difficult and I'd rather avoid downloading to PC and hardcoding myself.

If the z10 native media player doesn't recognize srt's are there any other 3rd party players avail for download? Android sideloads?

    Cheers

The native Z10 media player does not support them. There were 3rd party players that supported it on the PlayBook, so I expect there's some available for BB10 too.

Really? Which apps support srt's? This has been a real pain point for me and I'd love a fix with a native, ported, or sideloaded app as long as it works!

    Thanks!

On my playbook I bought Kalemsoft Media Player, turned out it was a great solution for me.
Brings you not only local playback support with .str ( and .sub I think ) files but also lets your stream media from your pc or nas.
All in all a great future set, it costs more but you will get more, and they have been giving great feedback in these forums!

Kalemsoft. Use native app if there's one.

The Z10 native video player do recognise .srt files. You'll have to ensure that both the video file and srt file has the same name.

    E.g. Avengers.mkv with subs as Avengers.srt

It'll automatically load the SRT file into the video that you're playing. Tried it with ove r20 videos so far. Hope this helps. Cheers!

I tried here but no success . The video and str files have same name. If I just copy them to a pen drive I can play it on TV or desktop automatically having subtitles.

There is any option to be activated?

Just tried avplayer and it worked well, showing me the subtitles as expected.

I avoid using android apps because of their performance.
