He says he loves the phone with the exception of its battery life. He concludes that when he closes messaging apps, the Hub is still using power to keep those applications signed in (i.e. What's App, Hookt). Is this true and if so, what can he do to increase battery life?

id buy him a mobile charger

but on a side note, the battery life is pretty bad for 1-2 weeks when new because the battery has to break in the phone with % vs voltage readings.

But in all honesty, if you're friend is no happy have them return it... last thing we need is more Z10 users crying because it isnt what they were expecting. have her buy a phone she likes

and yes, i know what I just did

I can't speak to Kik, but I found WhatsApp to be a serious drain on the battery. After deleting it, and with the same usage, I found I was getting at least 15% better life from the battery.
