Should I take the plunge and sideload something on my pristine, leakless, perfectly functional phone?

I'm kind of afraid bad apps or bad karma will mess up my awesome Z10...

Also, can't really think of what to sideload (open to suggestions)...

FWIW I've never had an Apple or Android device so it's not like I really know what I'm missing.

Unless you absolutely can't think of something you want or need, don't bother. But I see where you're coming from, its just fun to do things like that. Unless you want instagram or Netflix or candy crush or minion rush, leave it be.

Go for it! I like sideloading stuff especially when they work! You get a good feeling deep inside like you accomplished something even though someone else did all the work!

Netflix is the only one I can think of offhand as being immediately useful - travel, kids, hdmi out to my TVs that aren't attached to the PS3.

It's surprisingly easy with Google Chrome. If worst comes to worst, just delete the app. I've got snapchat and instagram on mine. Took maybe 5 minutes...

Just do a full backup of your phone before you start.
Also, read about each app before you start to make sure it does not cause issues. I have netflix and I don't think it causes problems. Month major ones for sure.

Some sideloads seems to cause battery issues but you should be fine. Aldo, usually deleting fixes it anuway.

I've had my Zed since Feb 14. I've had no urge to side load anything. My 15 year old daughter borrowed my Zed the other evening. About 1 hours later she brought it back with instagram and Netflix on it. She said it was easy! I've had no issues, with the side loads. All appears good.

    Back up precious

    And then give a go

Worst case scenario reinstall the software and restore your backup

I never thought I would like candy crush or instagram. I never would have tried them if there hadn't been so much drama surrounding instagram. I sideloaded tiny tunes last night. Try that one for downloading songs and Ringtones. Try a banking app it you need one. I would go debug method if possible.

Yea I say DONT waste your time. As optimistic as everyone sounds, if you really have no direct need for android or apple apps then forget about it. You did mention Netflix so hey if it's that important then why not. In my experience and I'm sure others, this can cause minor unnoticeable problems, that you do not want piling up; mind you, this is a very VERY easy process.
    My opinion, please no flame.

I, personally, stay away from side loading. I've tried it and side loaded some app, still don't known which one that just destroyed battery. So I left the side loading world behind. Unless there's a app you really really want, I wouldn't go for it.
    But this is my opinion.

That's correct, it could have a detrimental effect on battery life.

Backup, sideload and don't worry about karma... What you sideload to your berry is your karma and how it reacts is your phone's

If you are going to side load I recommend the task manager app to make sure no apps are running in the background even after closing.

Hi mate I had a couple of blackberrys before, and Im with iPhone now (5). I had a z10 last week and sold it in the same day!
I thought the same " I will sideload" but I lost my patience when I saw the Facebook app, (doesn't let me send a picture?) and the ebay app? And other things... Awesome machine with bad apps.
It's the same give a Ferrari to my grandma who doesn't have license to drive.
I loved the keyboard and the screen size, but blackberry must worry with the apps, otherwise will be over soon :<
