So i sideloaded Skype but can't sign in. Well, I should clarify. i can only sign in when connected to WiFi. when on 4g it says "You cannot be signed in at this time. Please check your mobile network settings and try again". Does this only work on wifi or is something going wrong for me. i have the Verizon version running 10.0.9.422

I have the same issue, with Wifi it works but on 4g I get the same message. on VZW with the same version. maybe it's something that will work with the official release.

Works perfectly on SLT 100 -1. Was lagging a little immediately after the install, but a restart, and settled down to being really smooth. No battery drain issue. Thanks Kris, I needed Skype on my Z10 badly.

Hmmm...I think I have to retrace my steps somewhere...sideloaded Skype, installed easily enough, seems to be working...until I initiate/accept a video call...at which point, my Z10 shuts down and reboots.
Maybe my install of 10.1 really wasn't working completely and it affected the Skype install somehow. Oh well...I was going to do a security wipe and redo anyway. Skype just isn't important enough that I can't wait to get it on my phone. Interesting .bar, though.

Ditto - lots of random re-boots associated with the use of Skype on my Z-10, but this is a Beta build, running on an unitended device, running on an un-released beta OS. So......not complaining just observing.

not technically. It's not official until BlackBerry is involved. Side loading it is not official.

Really officially working means someone from BlackBerry has demonstrated it or its in the app world. It's great that it is working but I just wanted to clarify this point. It's almost as bad as how many people use the word "Literally" or "I could care less". Just nit picky.

I'll have to beg to differ...my experience with it is far from working. I still haven't achieved an actual video call without my Z10 shutting down. Things like that would definitely denote a non-working status.

I did have it loaded on to a flawed upgrade leak originally, so that might be taken into consideration. I've since done a wipe (nothing to do with Charmin), and loaded the latest leak but I need to see if this latest iteration of 10.1 is stable before making any changes (so far so good) .
Until then, my user experience still stands as "not working".

Why does it tell me that Skype is coming soon for the blackberry Z10. Are you talking about the official skype from the blackberry app world or your side loading it?

Skype was released for Q10 and someone found that it works for the Z10 so they posted the .bar file. You still sideload it but it isn't an android conversion.

Actually, it is an android conversion. Just one performed properly by both skype and blackberry working together on it. It still runs in the Android player.

So in the end, BlackBerry did see it in their best interests to get involved with this "alien" app. I would hope now that we can put to rest all of the "misunderstandings" about the need for Skype, or that there are no critical apps., or that phone mfr have/should never sought/seek to influence app vendors.

Nothing official about the BB10 version bouncing about except that--likeBB10., an official version should be released within a fortnight, or two. Good decision by BlackBerry to jump on this giant hole for marketing their new Z/Q models....And I am optimistic that BlackBerry recognizes, and will address with expedience, the dozen or so other BB10 blunders that need rapid attention lest they never reach even 10mm in sales of "our" Z phone.

Downloaded Skype again, (first time I tried it it was awful), this second time around it worked smooth and great

Skyped my mum who was over in Dublin seeing family for a week and I got to tell her that she was going to be a Grandma (used Skype so we could show her the baby scan)!! How cool?! thank you Skype, a memorable moment on my Z10!
