Good point about the leaked os stuff. Dont forget there are people releasing hybrid version of oses on this forum. So even if you claimed this leaked Skype was a modified one. The community seems to be ok with modifying the os. Why all of a sudden are we talking about distribution rights and legality? It all seems lame to me.

So im thinking they decompiled the apk with a program called apktool,edited the androidmanifest.xml changed the minversion/sdk etc.. then recompiled it and packaged it. lol if anyone wants to try this,they are more than welcomed but here is where i've hit a wall.

Maybe for some that is okay. But I think permission should first be received if it was to be distributed.

Use case example:

Free app on market links to market for paid download. If somebody takes that app and distributes it in a closed system (ie: Chinese device pre loaded without permission) then that app will not be able to generate revenue to link to the paid version.

I know full well that some developers distribute their apps outside of markets and allow others to distribute as well. The problem is some people do not have permission to do it.

IMHO if op had not posted, and Bla1ze had discovered how to extract the bar first, we all would have had it by now.

Op has the idea that distributing the bar would be unethical or immoral or something, and that is fine for him personally, but as others have pointed out, not posting the bar represents a strange policy shift from within the crackberry community. Unfortunately this has somehow scared Bla1ze from doing the right thing for the community.
