So i recently bought a new Z10. Was loving it until this morning when suddenly all sounds stopped out of the external speaker.
That meant no notifications, ringtones, loudspeaker etc.
Now i read somewhere that the fix to this is to do the following:-

    1) Open battery cover
    2) Play some music on the phone
    3) press down on the phone at the bottom below the battery where the speaker grill is.

    Voila, the sounds came back.
now this is obviously not a software issue, but some sort of loose contact or the other in hardware. Do i have a defective piece?

    Should i return the phone?

If what your saying is actually the case then I would return the phone as defective. The carrier should have no problem replacing the device.

The problem is that here in India we dont buy it through carriers.
i have bought it outright. And i really dont know how to now prove it to the service center that i has this problem since it is now working.
I guess if it happens again i will return it.

Yes I would definitely bring it back. You want a phone that is 100%
