I just encountered a hugely annoying issue with the Set As Wallpaper routine.

I downloaded an image at 1440x2560 resolution, and I proceeded to set it as wallpaper. The software simply refused to work normally:

The crop area defaults to square and simply can't be changed to the more reasonable 16:9, while at first it does display a 16:9 cropper, the software selects a square cropper as visible on the action bar.

The cropper cannot be moved to the far right or left of the image

When selecting an area and going to Enhance tab to see the selected area, it captures more than what the cropper actually shows

When finally set as a wallpaper, the image used is the one selected by the cropper, not the one visible on Enhance tab.

Working with significantly smaller image (500x700 resolution) does not produce the same issue, I can move around just fine

If you re-size the original image to 720 x 1280 you shouldn't have a problem.

Yeah well then the problem shifts to the fact that BlackBerry doesn't have a native way to do that. I could try to crop it (the crop software works wonders by the way) but it wouldn't let me resize the image. If I crop the whole thing, essentially doing nothing, nothing will happen

It was a known issue and I believe it is resolved now with the new OS i.e. 10.3.2.2789.

Take a look at Image Resizer in BlackBerry World.

Yes, you are right guy. I have noticed the same issue. I think this is only issue of OS 10.3.2. All other functions works ok.

I am also having this issue. Also, if I give in and select a much smaller area than I wanted on a particular picture, the final wallpaper that displays on my phone is distorted or "squashed" meaning it didn't even use the area selected in the "crop".

I have found if i open the picture on my device - then resize or move it on my screen - then screen shot it- it works and i get exactly what i was looking for on my screen wallpaper.

If it's an image that is not a stock image, save it to an SD card (if you have one). Open it from there, then do a "set as...". The crop feature will now work properly.

And, yes, the latest 2789 OS does fix this problem. Even with the stock wallpaper selector in Settings.

That actually works. I've never thought of such workaround. Props to you sir
