My Z10 has been experiencing some issues with reception and using someone the apps that require the internet.
Have backed it up and now doing a security wipe to restore it to factory settings and start it fresh.

However, this was at 12pm... its now after half 10 at night!
Over 10 hours and it is still wiping!
    What do I do?

If you just see a total black screen now you just need to restart your Z10 and it will power up as normal. As long as the shredder symbol is gone all should be OK now.

Yes do what knighty2112 said if that is the case. It will not reboot on its own. Report back if otherwise.

Pull the battery, when you reboot it'll either start over the wipe or flash the led signify a soft brick, if it's the second you can just reload through link or www.blackberry.com/software

My Z10 just hit the 12 hour mark. After 8 hours I pulled the battery and waited 10 minutes and the shredding icon came back. Last I checked I had over 10 gigs used. I'm going to wait a couple of more hours and then try pulling the battery.

    Any other suggestions?

I ended up reloading the OS through BlackBerry Link. While the shredder icon was still on, I reset the phone by holding down the power button for 10 seconds while it was connected to Link. I had to do it several times before Link connected to the phone. Once that happened, I was able to load the OS

I was experiencing the same problem while wiping off my Z10. I did it from BB Link and I believe this was the issue. I should have done it from the mobile itself as I saw some youtube videos that shows a smooth job. However followed what Chabbs advice and now it's working, the icon disappeared and BB Link is now downloading the original OS to be installed. I hope everything it's going to be ok.

I had this issue with my first Z10. Let it go through the night, still stuck on shredder screen. Tried battery pulls, connected to Link, Still no joy. Took it back and it was sent off. A week or two later got a phone call to go and pick it up. Ended up with a new Z as the techs couldn't figure out what was going on.

Is a pain, but might be quicker and easier just to take it back under warranty and get a replacement. Make sure you get new though and not refurbished...

    1. Connect your phone to BlackBerry Link and try to reload the OS.
    2. If this doesn't work, find the autoloader for the latest BlackBerry 10 OS and install it.
Personally I prefer to use autoloader, it takes about 10 minutes.
For Autoloader- this is the best place to get them:

I think it's much quicker to wipe with BlackBerry Link. I had the same issue a year ago. It actually took so long I decided to interrupt the security wipe that I initiated in my phone and reload the software.

Have you tried to use an autoloader before?

I've never used an autoloader, I'm not familiar with it but the process I used is pretty quick and simple.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

Yeah. Use the Blackberry Link to reload your OS. It's easier to use. And less complicated.
