What OS are you running? Have you tried a hard reset? Hold the up and down volume keys down until it goes dark, then the work "Blackberry" shows on the screen. Unless you have an STL100-1, then the up and down volume reset combination won't work.
trying this it gave me screen shot

Hold the buttons down and keep them held down until the screen goes black, keep the buttons help down until you see the phone restarting and display the word "Blackberry." It will give you a screenshot as well, but keep holding the buttons down after it gives you a screenshot. This holds true unless you have the STL100-1. If you have an STL100-1, you will need to hold down the power button for at least 15 seconds. You need to supply more information regarding which Z10 model you have and which specific OS you are using if you want more help.
Try downloading BlackBerry Virtual Expert and running the sensor tests. I have a Z10 as well and over the years I've lost all sensors. The accelerometer and gyroscopes seem to be a hardware issue, then when I updated to 10.3.2 I lost everything else. Reinstall hasn't helped.

Good idea, but first a hard reset. He obviously hasn't done that yet.
