so why can't Blackberry just make the OS 10.1 firmware available online on the update site?

Swisscom on. 99 too.... I hope the official is coming soon together with the BES update. My published apps on BES won't install any more since updating to a leaked 10.1...I need this to get fixed ;-)

Cant seem to think of a reason why they would. it will make life so much easier.both samsung and Apple do that and they work with these same carriers

Probably because it was so easy to load another carrier's software on the old OS and people kept calling them and complaining to their tech support with unsupported OS versions.

the firmware update eventually gets to the update site anyway but only after everybody already has it. it is then only useful for downloading to fix problems. Thanks anyway.

I'm on Virgin Mobile (a subsidiary of Bell Canada), so I won't be expecting the OTA 10.1 until some time mid-October...Bell is so slow at keeping up with updates.

Also I wanted to add that I did not ever install the leak.

I reinstalled BlackBerry Link and wiped my phone then when I unplugged my phone and went to Software Update, there it was. I will keep trying to post the pic.

DId you go into the Security Permissions - CB App and turn on Shared Files? That's how you can attach the pic on CB app.

In India, we are not using Carrier phone.
So, I think we should have the update very soon from BlackBerry.
Will check for updates during BlackBerry Live Event.

I didn't install the leaked version. That's why I was wondering if anyone else got the update because I don't understand how it got on my phone.

Apparently, the OP was correct. 10.1.0.1720 is out for the Q10

I am sick of this waiting for BB OS updates business. i am going back to iphone; at least everybody gets the update directly from apple at the same time. BB should just do the same and stop this 'peace meal' seeding business. it is disgusting (my opinion)
