Lets clean this up a little...

The z10 has never been $99 or $139 or $149 or $189 or $199. Not even close.
Rogers had it at $99 for a few weeks. So this is not true.
If you buy on contract in Canada, expect a 3 year commitment at a minimum monthly charge of $50
I can walk out of a Rogers, TELUS or Bell store with a fully activated BlackBerry Z10 on a 3 year term for about $43 a month. ($39 if I go to Fido, and they only have 2 year contracts).

Plus the initial teaser charge of $99 to $149 for a total price of $1900+. Yes, you do get 3 years service with that, but you certainly don't get a phone for $99. If you cancel your contract early, you'll still end up paying around $600 for the phone.
A family member of mine paid $99 for their Z10 a month or so ago. Their device recovery fee was $388.89 - if they cancelled the total amount would have been $487.89 before taxes. If they paid $43 over 3 years on their Rogers contract, it would have cost them $99 plus the reoccuring monthly fees. $1,548 over 3 years, upfront fee of $99.

Stop complaining about the pre-order price, if you aren't happy then don't pre-order nobody is forcing you to actually get it first. Rather wait a few weeks and it might actually come down in price. Already seen some contract deals on this bad boy in my country. According to SP(Service Provider) reseller they will probably be available 1st week in May.

This is the Q10, this is what the base blackberry fans want the most. A physical keyboard... its only logical that it costs more...

Base BlackBerry fans??? I am a huge BlackBerry fan and loyal customer and loved my BlackBerry keyboard but I got a z10 because of all the reviews and info released on the z10's keyboard. I love the z10 and it's keyboard and do not miss the physical keyboard at all.

As for the q10 pricing, I think it's priced right where it should be for launch. I believe if will the flagship device for now and it is made with better materials it seems. Those who want it as bad as j wanted the z10 will buy it without saying anything negative and they will be happy.

Bottom line. You don't have a z10 that you own outright that you paid $99 for. Not even close.

Well holy smoky Joe. I think everyone knows of this and I am tired of ppl saying it.

NaHhhh duhhhhhh we paid 99.99 for a z10.... of freaking course on contract for a up front payment.

So when ppl say that it's ppl like me and millions of others already know it's a 599.99 phone on contract you get a discount price to be on the carrier for so many yrs.

What's the point of buying a phone outright anyway? Yes in a contact your stuck in it for 3 years. But to use a phone that u paid 600 For you still have to pay your 60 or so a month to use the damn thing. Why not go on a contract and when you want out of it you pay the device balance. If you don't want out you just saved $500

So that 1400 or whatever you calculated it out to be will be 500 more after using your Z10 for 3 years. Seems ridiculous to me

Some people buy the phone outright and use it on another carrier or use it on a pre paid plan. Not everyone uses it on a plan.

Yes some people do. But it seemed like they were complaining about how much more it costs to lock in rather than buying outright

Do these prices include tax? In CA it's about $50 on top of everything regardless of phone price.

There's always taxes. It does suck that those don't have to add that into their advertising price. A Lot of other country's do. But that's north America for you

Given a month or so after introduction, the Q10 will drop in price just like the Z10. Amazon has the Z10 at $99 with a two year contract. By summer the Q10 should be the same.
