Hi Guys;

I'm struggling to get my remote file access to work though my Mcafee firewall. If I turn off the firewall completely I can connect with no problems, but of course that is a temporary solution. Otherwise, I just a blank screen on my Z10.

I can see some exceptions were automatically created (like bblink.exe) , but that is not enough. I can't seem to find any documentation on the ports numbers or programs that must be allowed for this to work.

Anybody have this working with an active Mcafee firewall??

I would love to know as well, because I have tried everything and it just doesn't work. I'm not worried though, my McAfee subscription ends in 12 days and I won't be renewing.

Try opening TCP port 1111 & 49512 for connection to your Z10


If asked for address, allow connection from all (Specifically if you wish to access files outside your home network (i.e. on Mobile Data, or another WiFi hot spot))



Example of Port Forwarding on a Cisco Linksys Router (IP Address points to your target Computer (Where Link is installed))
***Just to clarify*

I don't actually use McAfee, so can't vouch for how to go about exactly setting up these router rules:

-=Open a port=-
>Open your McAfee Windows Security software.
>Click Web and Email Protection.
>Click Firewall.
>Click Ports and System Services.
>Click Add.
>Enter the Program name of the application with the System Service Name field.
>Enter a description of the application or service to help identify the new rule.
>Enter the TCP or UDP ports required by the application.
>Change the drop-down option for the Open ports to: field to All PCs.
>Click Save.
>Verify that the application functions correctly.

Just to note, for communication beyond your home network, you will most likely need to log into your Router's Web interface and configure port forwarding for port 1111

Sorry, may have provided misleading information there:

Windows Firewall has a few ports and applications open regarding Link (And subsequently, remote file access).

Check screenshot attached and ensure McAfee has similar settings:

I seem to remember issues with McAfee blocking IPv6 traffic and that may be contributing you problem.

Yes. still got blocked.
When I looked at the Mcafee firewall log, I see Suspicious inbound connection at Ip XXX.XXX.XXX connection blocked. I even switched macafee to prompt for inbound connectivity, so that I could probably get an ALLOW button, but it doesn't prompt me.

What sgt_snacks-64 suggested works for me (at least on my home network!) so thanks! I will test and see how things go today then also add the port forwarding to the router to see how it works outside of the house. I added 1111, 49512 and the others in the screenshot (5580-5590, 8080, 4487-4499).

I will keep you posted if something changes.

I tested with my laptop being on my wireless and my Z10 being on 4G so that works too...

I have McAfee and to get it to work I used the ports from the Remote access/assistance and entered them on the TCP/Ip and UDP ports. Worked perfect.

Can someone confirm that all of these ports needs to be opened as it does seem quite a few just to allow file access.
