With each passing day it's harder to accept and really aggravating that AT&T has not released 10.2. (So. Cal, L.A.) especially while reading daily how great it can be. I've never installed a leak and am very apprehensive because of some of the problems I've read that a few run into and I don't have time for any down time whether to try fixes or reloading the original OS. plus, I'm not what one would call very knowledgeable about it all if a problem comes up during or because of. What to do....i think I just need a little push to take the risk. haha!

    Question:
say something goes wrong, is it as simple to reload the original OS as connecting the device again and selecting "reload original OS" or the like?

And about how long might the entire process take?

    Consider yourself pushed!

And yes you can always go back to original carrier OS

    Back up first!!

    Load 10.2.1.1925

    Restore (everything but settings)

You'll have to reinstall Accounts and you'll lose any Android sideloads, and you'll lose any customizations you did to your icon layout.

Entire process could take four or so hours.

The install itself is about 20 minutes... Restore takes two to three hours... the back up about an hour.

I was on the att official os for about a week and it was so bad for me I loaded up the next best leak and there is no turning back for me. Im currently on 1925 and it is the best os to date. so many features and it is very stable. I dont think i will ever use an official att os again, but then again will they ever get past 10.1? Loading up a leak is super easy just make sure you get the correct autoloader for your model and everything should be fine.

Thanks for the encouragement from you all. It's settled then, I just need to arrange a 4 hour or so window.

Autoloader? If I choose the specific Os (-3) for my model, doesn't that take care of it?

Yes. The process is very easy overall. And the latest leak, 1925, is a joy to use. The state of carrier support these days makes leaks the way to go. With the ready availability of autoloaders the process is really pretty simple overall. And like others suggested above a real beauty of BB is the ability to reinstall or revert if you are not pleased.

Most likely it won't take 4 hours to get everything done. Depending on your Internet speed, the OS download will be around 30 minutes. If you're on a 1 Meg service, it will take three hours.

Backup speed depends on what you have on your phone (pictures, applications, etc.). I use the app Firechest. I find it a little quicker than Link, but either will do. Start backing up while you watch a show or eat supper.

Once you download the OS and unzip it, the load time to your phone is about 20 minutes. Just redo your accounts and you are good to go.

Restore, if you choose to do it, depends a lot on what you have backed up. Maybe 30-45 minutes or so.

I do my updates when relaxing at home. About 2 hours total, start to finish. Of course your time may vary.

Yeah its simple. Sometimes you have to soft brick the phone to reload the original OS. But usually while the phone is connecting to your phone there will be an option that pops up on BlackBerry Link that will let you download the latest OS from your carrier

I shouldn't have to install a leak to get the latest features from BlackBerry. I don't care if it's their fault or the carrier's fault- I just want it as soon as possible and hassle free!

Here on AT&T running 10.1.0.2030... *sigh*

I installed 1925 on both my phone and my daughter's. Works great, no issues. Just takes time but it is worth it. Just follow the instructions, let the autoloader do the work and u will be thrilled with the results. Then sideload Snap and u r home free.

I understand wanting an official OS. 10.2.0.1767 was picked up by many carriers and is an awesome OS. I loaded from the leaks thread here. I would at least load that. you can restore your back up to it too.

DO IT!! Loading the 10.2.1 leak is a little more than I want to deal with. I think you should have 100 percent good results.

Its easy with link. If you get stuck. Just start over loading the leak and pull the usb cord out when it starts to load. This soft brick it. So now you can use link to find the base version of the carrier OS. Very easy to do. Doesn't take long either. Move big files off your phone temp if you want faster process.

If you can successfully do a FULL backup before installing the leak then there's basically zero risk. You can always do a full restore and be back just like you left it.

    Things to note:

Use a stable PC for this. One that never blue screens, reboots by itself. Etc.

Disable, temporarily any virus scanners and other things that might interfere.

    Shut down BlackBerry Link.

Don't do this during a storm when your area might have a power outage or interruptions. Lol.

    That's about it.
