- I almost made the change- got my buy out for my existing contract and was offered the Z30 on a two year contract (same terms as my current contract) for $29 - but Rogers doesn't stock them. It had to be ordered and I am out of town for several weeks BUT the INTERESTING part of the story was they are getting MANY calls to do the same. Maybe the android app emulator has changed the value quotient.
Posted via CB1002-21-14 05:37 PMLike 0 - I know the Android apps made a big change for me. I now have the perfect device all around! Android and Apple are nice but nothing beats BlackBerry for emails and notifications plus the ease of navigating a blackberry.
Hopefully sales pick up with the apps that are available now this alone could put blackberry back on the map!
Posted via CB1002-21-14 06:08 PMLike 0 - I made the switch z10->z30, yet i went back to z10. People thought that z30 was an android and besides that, z10 has way better design, while functionality is the same, and only the screen size is noticeable

I got this through their automated service. Then I zeroed out and told them I wanted to upgrade - they said no- it would be $179- so I said. Okay, I said. Just close my account and ill get the phone at best buy. They checked online on a "price match" and said $29.00. Plus my buyout (but I own my z10 as a backup). If they give you grief say you are going to cancel and talk to customer loyalty or customer retention. The total price was my device buyout + 29, but it was pretty close to the 179 ish plus my Z10. Hope this helps.
Posted via CB1002-21-14 09:11 PMLike 0 - I have bought a Z10 again. I dearly missed BB10 while I didn't own one and have been with Android for a while now mainly because of some apps. When I snaped up that the Android support is much better now there wasn't any question about it.
I actively chose the white Z10 over the Z30 even though I knew battery life differs greatly. I just think the Z10 is much more elegant and much more good looking. I don't really agree with the hardware design of the Z30 at all. The white Z10 is so beautiful. It's also portable. My Android is a Sony Z Ultra with 6,4" screen which is pretty clumsy.
Also made a bargin on Ebay. 250 for a new one shipped from Germany to Sweden. They are cheap now.02-22-14 02:09 AMLike 3 - It was pretty easy. You could have gotten on board when Telus was at $0. I got mine at the Upgrade price+$0.
Love the Z30, it's an amazing device.

Loving my white Z10 too. Will wait to see what is up BlackBerry's sleeves in the summer and maybe make the switch to the next flagship

That's nothing special, all carriers in Canada do the same thing. I'm with Bell and I can pay the remaining balance of this contract, resign for another 2 year agreement and get the z30 at their in contracted price. The problem is for example: $20 x 24 months = $480 price to buy out the Z10. Obviously, it isn't logical to buy out the phone cost.
I thought you swung some uber special deal out of Rogers.

A look at the BlackBerry Z3 'Jakarta' from all angles | CrackBerry.com
Seems to have a more clean/minimalistic look with rectangular design. It's just something about the Z30 I don't like personally.02-22-14 12:12 PMLike 0 - Oh ok so you still had to pay the remaining balance of what you had on the phone e.g. $20 x number of month remaining on the contract.

I'll be doing it...02-22-14 12:52 PMLike 0 - Check with Bell... I spoke to them today and they told me it was $10 per month to buy out the remaining 23 months on my 36 month contract... so $230 + $35 hardware change fee + $129 for the Z30... basically adds 1 month to my contract (big deal) and get's me into a brand new Z30 for $395... and in my experience, once you do that, you call customer service and they waive the $35 hardware change fee dropping that whole issue down to $360 for the Z30 and basically the exact same time left on my contract...
I'll be doing it...
Posted via CB1002-22-14 02:17 PMLike 0 - No! Get them to match the price. I was originally told 179 for the z30 plus my buy out. But I got them to 29 for the z30 plus the buyout. Do for about $250 I get my current Z10 (I own it outright) and a new Z30 on a two year plan. Make them price match! The z30 is between $0 and $49 on a two year contract.

Posted via CB1002-22-14 09:30 PMLike 0 - Funny that most people are touting the bigger battery and bigger screen on the Z30 as the most important features...I'm not saying that I'm not going to thoroughly enjoy them!
For me, actually it is the Paratek antenna, Miracast and the Speakers. I happen to work in the Faraday Building so I'm lucky if I get EDGE at my desk (Though I get HSUPA on the crapper at work [STL100-1 so no LTE]).
Also, I often lie in bed streaming rugby games (for those in the less civilised world, it is like American Football but it is played by men ) and the speakers on the Z10, S4 and LG G2 are just not quite as nice as I would like.
Also, my Z10 streams better than my laptop does (Or the S4 for that matter - maybe it is flash and HTML5 compatibility and because...I don't know, my laptop hates me) and I want to be able to slap the game onto TV wirelessly without connecting my laptop to the TV.
Though I understand that I'm the minority so I can understand that other people don't always want what I do (because obviously they're insane and should seek medical attention).aha likes this.02-23-14 05:51 AMLike 1
