Okay, my z10 died and now seems resurrected. I initially used an obscure email address when establishing my bbid. The username=email address. Since I am now at the stage on the z10 where it wants my bbid, if I could change it, I would do so now.

If I log onto the bb bbid site and change my username, that is the email, does this transfer my purchased apps (movies) to this new id? I would rather use one of my more normal email addresses.

I think everything is attached to one BBID... if you change your email that's like starting a new BBID process... I tried before it came back like brand new acct...

You must use your normal BlackBerry Id, after having all that you can change on your device your email for your id, I will not know later what will happen with your paid apps

As long as you change your username and do not create a new bbid you're good to go.

I'll suggest you sign in with your current bbid and then go change the username via your phone settings.

Should be no issues I've done a few times already

Thanks, EVERYONE. With the "trauma" (doorstop z10) of the last 18 hours, I took the simple route - used my old one so that there's one less hassle and I can just reinstall my apps.

Now I will have to decide whether to keep this one or swap for the one being overnighted to me to replace this now working one.

You can go to BlackBerry website and change the account email...

Yes, you can change your BlackBerry ID on the website and all your apps will still be associated with your account but under the new ID (email address). I've done this same thing when I changed emails. Worked fine.

You can also change the email address, screen name, and password when logged in on your device. (Settings, BlackBerry ID). I've done it myself.
