I had to swap out my Z10 (twice) with T-mobile due to defects. The odd thing I noticed that I need a real "Crackberry Z10" expert to tell me is this:
The third Z10 I received this week (T-mobile has been GREAT with exchanges by the way!) has a small, circular "sensor" looking thing in the top left corner of the screen. The other two didn't have it. My partner's, (originally purchased at the same March US release same as my original Z10), ALSO doesn't have it. That's one out of four Z10's that has this "sensor" of some type. It looks very similar to the one on the top right of the screen. Does anyone know what this is- I've seen nothing in the forums about a mid- production hardware change, but it IS there. Is this something that was added later in the production run? And for what purpose?
    Thanks.

At the start when the Z10 was released, there were reports of some having a defective oliphobic coating on the screen. I think the spot in the top left is exactly the same. Polish your screen and it will be invisible - except maybe a slightly different reflection.

If it is on the black bezel I would not worry about it at all. I have a spot in the top left on the black bezel - it has stayed the same since I got the phone back at the beginning of February. Consider it a feature it makes your Z10 a bit more unique.

Edit: saw the photo, my spot is further inwards. I am pretty certain it is related to the coating and nothing else.

I have not seen one real life but have seen photos of Dev Alpha Units that has 1 or some even 2 of these unknown sensors.
I think it's cool that you have something unique -

For reference, there IS a torx screw in that exact spot. You can see it if you take the back of the case off.

It's one of the screws keeping the back of the phone on, as well as the logic board. The screen screws are smaller and right along the edge(and a few of those are visible with the case off too).

I don't recall the hole going all the way through, but if it's somehow poked through (maybe it was screwed in too tight, or was a nanometre too long) it could have scraped the black bit on the screen assembly.

So maybe his phone was refurbished with a Dev Alpha cover?

This seems like the most logical response. That or one from a different Z10 model, there are several different "subspecies" of both Z's and Q's.

    Hi,

I did forward your picture to a BlackBerry emplyee (device support specialist) and he checked all their BB Z10 revisions and said none of them had a sensor (or anything in that spot).

He noticed the screen protector on the image and suggested an airbubble or a manufactoring defect in the glass.

It's just interesting that other pictures of the dev alpha has shown similar "holes" in the same spot...
