Protect and RFA (what's going on)
Is there any particular reason why blackberry protect refuses to locate my device? Protect is "on" under settings. Location Services are "on"
I dropped my car off for service, took my rental car to work, and, ... no Z10 anywhere to be found. No problem, I thought. It's either at home, in my car at the shop, or maybe somewhere in between. Go to blackberry protect, and, "stale" location. Just to be safe, prompted protect via web to "lock device with password the next time it's located". So, at lunch, run back to the dealership, find the phone in my car, so, no problem. Phone is "on", connected to the network, dozens of new e-mails, etc.. Yet, no password lock as requested.... (???)
Why isn't protect locating my device? I have tried this morning again, with the device on my lap, and, no love. Tried with WiFi on AND off, no love. Tried hard reset, no love. Everything else appears to be working fine. BB world is updating my apps. E-Mail is fine. Workspace is fine.
Just, decides not to work.
Had a similiar issue last week with RFA. (Yes, we all know that RFA has its issues. For me, it works about 50% of the time with no rhyme or reason as to when or why). The one time I really needed it to get a file I left on my machine at home, and, no love.
Frustrating.
Features are all well and good, assuming they are reliable and robust. I would rather not have it, then have it advertised and not work, or work when it decides to.
UPDATE: After a THIRD hard reset, protect is now finding my device. For how long? WHo knows. What am I doing to cause this?
