    The same video plays ok in a stl100-3 and all mess up in stl100-1

    Same OS version, same app, same everything else?

    If it's running off an SD card, and if it isn't the same one, try to run it off of local storage.

    If everything else is completely identical, it's probably some fault with the phone.

    neither of the phones have sd card. All is identical. It is a video a same whatsapp contact sent to both of us.
    If I upload the video to facebook or any other site from the stl100-1 it shows ok.
