Hey folks. So I had to swap my z10 for a new z10. I did the full backup on blackberry link etc. One question I have regarding predictive text.

Had my old Z10 for over 5 months so it had learned my texting habits and words very well. However now on my new z10 those words do not appear anymore. It's kind of starting from scratch. Anyone else experience this? It's abit frustrating. Never realized how good I had it before once it had learned my words. I thought perhaps during the backup and restore the predictive text would be restored on my new device as well. However it did not.

I mean its not a huge huge negative or factor but still would have been nice for this feature to had gotten transferred over to the new device as well.

    Cheers

Same thing happened to me. I don't think it gets backed up. Weird right?

I would have assumed that your "word history data" was transferred over if you used the device switch feature in BlackBerry Link. If not, that is something they should fix cuz it is one of the coolest features of the Z10 virtual keyboard.

So they just forgot to include that part? I mean how can that be overlooked being that it is such an amazing feature. I'm sure it's not that difficult to transfer over is it??

Let us hope that BlackBerry looks at this thread and does a face palm for forgetting to include that in the back up process and says, "that's easy to fix, and we get a new update to BBLINK tomorrow.

This happens to me as well when I upgrade to a leaked OS.

from my understanding the words are linked both on the email database, and some kind of temporary shifting database that stores your keyboard usage.
Since it is possible to use a BlackBerry10 device without text prediction, I believe that the simplest way to store emails is to not store the words in the emails...
and since there is currently no way to control what you restore using Link, I believe that it was easier to not store database of words in the emails, and the keyboard usage.

Anyway, maybe it is disappointing, but in 2 weeks it'll be behind you.

I'm fine with tomorrow. But would have been even better if it was yesterday during my restore process. But at least others won't miss out or lose this great great feature.
