I'm curious if when you make a call with your Z10, you place the call, and then hear a sort of 'popping' sound via the earpiece as you're putting the device to your ear?

I've placed about 3-4 calls to make sure I wasn't merely thinking I was hearing something.

    Go...

I get this all the time I don't know what it is. Just before it starts ringing I hear a loud speaker pop. Then it starts ringing. Every time.

...curious, do you have a case on the device? I have an Otterbox. I wonder if somehow the case is causing the issue.

No case on it, she's nekkid.

It's a rogers white stl3, and it pops every time before it connects and starts ringing. I was wondering what it was but I'm relieved someone else is experiencing it. Call quality is good once it connects and don't hear any more popping.

It's the HD audio picking up the switch between the ringing sound and silence.

When the switch plays back the 'ringing sound' its simply playing an audio file. When the switch plays it, you hear an audible pop which is the switch 'switching' between the audio file and silence.

You'd normally never notice this on the regular call bandwidth, but HD audio seems to reveal it.

I have no idea if that's correct or not, but it sounds good, so I'll go with that answer.

Wow excellent response, I thought my speaker was blown. Thank you for that. Is there a solution to the popping then?

Actually now that you mention it, I had contacted rogers about hd calling issue I am having at first they said they would investigate it but then said they can't find anyrhing.

Basically any time I call a specific person I sound hd to them but they sound very static to me.

Weird. Never noticed it before, but I get that sound too. Sounds like the ear piece is being switched on. I get the same "Pop" when I unplug and plug the power to my external speakers for my tv.

Thx for explaining. I was really wondering what the noise was. And even if it's not the truth makes me seem pretty informed on the device.
    Lol

I have crackling/popping sound before I even make a call. I just pick up my phone when it's on standby and I place it to my ear and I hear a very, very faint static popping sound.

Do not ask me how/why I decided to test this.
