I am used to it and i'd hate to see it rebranded as a torch or storm.

The London name has had many positive things said about it, i think it'll work in RIM's favour to keep that as the name

Won't be Torch or Storm...that's for sure.

The only brands I see continuing are the Bold and Curve names.

    Definitely won't be Storm.

Agree with AVPTI that' it's likely we see Bold and Curve names continue.

As for the L-Series... tough call. I don't think the Torch name carries the same sort of brand equity that Bold and Curve do. Logically it would make sense for the L-Series to fall into the Torch family, but I'd rather see RIM start up something fresh for it. Unless it's a Bold Touch... which just sounds a little too much like the name of a 70's porn film.
    tinysalmon and T-Raww like this.

I too would like to see an entire new, fresh line of names. London is nice along with many other names. If they are to make a break from the past and get a second look from non-BB users, I think they should shy away from the old names and start anew.

hope its not the bold touch! thats kind of the unofficial name for the 9900.
i can see them calling the n series bold, and another low end device as the curve.
i just think the london has had a lot of good press, especially in recent weeks, and it would be a great way to completely show a clean break from the old to start with.

    London sounds classy and elegant.

They should keep it. Coolness vibe and aura are what they are striving for.

I think that it is more likely that they would keep Torch than use the internal codename, after all would that mean they called the others lisbon or laguna too, but the odds are that they will look for a new name for this one as they won't be trying to evoke memories of previous devices like they will with the n-series.

The need a new name. Bold should stay with the N, maybe a Curve device at some point (even though I truly believe that RIM should abandon specifically making low end devices and allow the L/N to eventually become the low end devices as newer models are launched and price points drop), but the Torch name just isn't that great and no one should confuse the L device, or associate it with anything that RIM has made before. This is their new play to legitimately enter the full touch market, and try to win back people who left for iPhone and Android devices. New name for a new era at RIM IMHO.

With all the various versions in the L series London would confuse a lot of folks who are following the launch I fear. I would like to see a new name all together. Something dynamic and new.

The initial L series will be something new. This I'm certain of. As for Bold that name will stick along with curve and torch. But hey RIM could decide to re brand everything and leave previous names with the legacy OS.

That wouldn't be a bad idea IMO either. Start fresh ,clean slate.

Staying away from Curve models would be a horrible decision, the components in the L&N-series devices would not readily lead to cost reductions that would allow them to be sold off cheap later in their life and that would not help them this year when they will want a lower-priced model to boost volumes later in the year.

If you look at some of the stuff coming from qualcomm there are some lower-priced dual and quad-core options which are the most likely things we will see powering a bb10 curve along with cost savings on the display, built-in storage etc.
