Not sure what happened, I never was able to do it either, but I updated to 10.2.0.1047 and added myself as a contact on my playbook then the video icon appeared and was green so I tapped it and presto, my Z10 started ringing!

I believe the video call can only be initiated from PlayBook to Z10 not the other way around. I believe you have to save your pin in the contacts for video chat on the PlayBook. I've only tried it once with success

If your ID email is linked as a contact they will be able to communicate. Add yourself as a contact on both. The Z10 will see "PlayBook Video Chat" under the contact info.

Connect PlayBook and Z10 to Wi-Fi network(s). Tap the Video Chat icon on the PlayBook and add the Z10�s BBID to the contact list (do this for the very first time only). Tap the BBID on PlayBook and wait for the call to appear on the Z10.
My PlayBook and Z10 have different BBIDs.

I've done the Playbook to Z10 chat but not vice versa

Yes it will work. My PB and one of my Q10's share the same BBID and I am able to video chat.

My daughter and it use it back and forth all the time. Play to Z: Z to play. The playbook user needs to be connected to wifi, and you can go either way

Not only my PlayBook but other employees and family PlayBooks as well. I figured this was common. I can go either way but I'm on BES10. Not sure if that makes a difference. Z10 to PB and vice versa.

I keep trying to call back my PlayBook but it doesn't work for some reason. I think it us because of the same bbid but others say it works for them.

I chat with my wife from my z10 to her PlayBook. In her contact on my z10 I needed to add her PlayBook BBM pin and it shows up in my contacts as 'PlayBook' video chat.

"playbook BBM PIN" this doesnt make sense coz PB doesnt have BBM. maybe you meant PB pin. and for some of us, it still doesnt work when we have that info in z10 contacts.

It can be done by doing the following

You need a different blackberry I'd on the PlayBook or add the PB pin as a contact to the z10.

Add this as a contact on your z10

And add your z10 pin or I'd to the playbook as a Contact

Yes, meant PlayBook pin. Weird thing for me is it worked from the moment I put into my wife's contact.

I just save the bbpin on my contact list on my z10. And that's it... I can call my pb or from the pb to my z10. works perfect. Never had a problem.. I been using it since I got my z10 back in March...

Not necessarily true. There are websites that do video chat too

Mine works with only 1 BID.

This feature has stopped working for me and 3 other family members. I asked others on my bbm list and they all said theirs was unavailable except one person who was running 10.2

Anyone else running into this problem? Do you think BlackBerry is updating something?

*edit note* these were all a mix of Playbook and BB10 devices.

So I thought I'd dredge this topic up as I've had a weird thing happen to me.

I rebuilt my PB with a new ID so that I could connect to vid chat from my Z10 when I was away from home and contact the PB to speak to my son. This worked a treat the other day at home. Today I tried whilst at work and I noticed that the contact "Playbook" on my Z10 was greyed out for video chat. I later found that the PB was away from the home network, so this made sense.

I got home and wanted to play around with the 2 devices, but when I checked my Z10 the option to video chat was gone (not grey, but entirely gone).

So after much messing around i'm no further forward. I just cant get voice chat option to re-appear in the Z10 to speak to the PB. I've deleted contacts and recreated. Rebooted devices.

But I can still happily contact PB to Z10, and if I go into the Hub I can open the video chat from the connection logged. Its baffling why it won't add into Contacts.

Any ideas?
