If you mean the wallcharger with the yellow usb plug, that is sold as a premium charger for all BlackBerry models, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Using the PlayBook charger to charge BlackBerry phones is supported. In fact that is the charger that comes with Dev Alpha devices.

The premium charger for z10 is the same amperage as the pb included charger. Works great. Use it on my z10 used it on my 9810 never a problem.

There is absolutely no problem using a higher amp charger. No side effects other then a faster charge. It's more expensive which is why they don't provide it in the box.

Any charger works as long as the voltage is 5V.... mAh doesn't mean anything. The phone will only take what it needs. Why do you think the phone stops charging when it reaches 100%? The software involved with the charging process keeps the battery safe.

I have used my PlayBook charger on a 8520 curve, a 9810 torch, and a z10 and have never ever had an issue with any device

i used to use the playbook charger to charge my 9900 with no problems however the playbook charger broke so had to buy a mag charger so using the standard 9900 charger now.

In fact if you don't use a higher amperage charger and you're playing games while charging, you'll find that the power draw of your z10 is higher than what the charger can put out - all you're doing is draining the battery slower!

YMMV but very technically a higher charge rate will lower the overall lifespan of the battery. That said, I've used the PB charger on my 9900 since day 1 and have had no issues... the battery life seems to be average (a Lithium Ion pack has an average lifespan of 300 charge cycles (not charges!) or about 2-3 years.)

Complete and utter BULL$H|T. BlackBerry sells the premium charger for all BlackBerry (later generation) phones and guess what...IT IS the Playbook charger @ 1800ma and it will NEVER burn your Z10 battery, or any other BlackBerry battery for that matter, unless you charge your phone in a bucket of water.

Whatever "stories" you heard about Playbook chargers burning batteries are just that, "stories", or you made this all up. Such misinformation on these boards...wow...

And FYI - the Playbook charger is NOT 1.2-1.5 amps, IT IS 1.8 amps, or 1800 ma, which ever way you want to read that.

You can take a 10-amp charger and plug it into your Z10 and it will NOT burn your battery, or charge it any faster than the battery needs to be charged. The phone has a limiter/ regulator on-board that allows the battery to pull a predetermined (maximum) amount of current at a preset voltage(s) - and it can't exceed that, unless the phone is defective. If you were right and I were wrong, there would be a clear danger of phones / batteries heating up and catching fire, as well as the chargers being used to charge them.

If you would read about battery charging before posting - you'd know beyond a doubt that you are 100% wrong in your assumptions.

The Z10 won't take more than 1.2amps no matter how high the charger amperage is.

Which is perfect because the Blackberry car charger is 1.8A. 1.2A for the BB and 500mA for everything else.

I don't remember if it applies to Lithium Ion batteries (it probably doesn't) but ideal charging current is 1/10th of the capacity. So a 1800mAh battery is best charged at 180mA.

You CAN fry your BB if you put more than 5v into it (now THAT'S an experiment for someone with a variable power supply!)
