Is it safe to use the PlayBook's charger on the Z10? I know the output current from the charger is higher than the Z10's charger, but that shouldn't have an impact unless the phone's charging circuit for some reason draws more than is safe for the battery.

The PlayBook charger was designed to also safely charge your BlackBerry Phone. That's the simple skinny for ya.

Yep using it right now. No damage as far as I can tell. Monitoring Battery Guru periodically shows that the phone doesn't draw a full charge all the time or even if it needs it, seems to be able to regulate how much power it draws from the charger.

He1l yeah. I pretty much ONLY use the PlayBook charger.

In fact, my original PlayBook charger that I've had since May, 2011, just started acting up, where it would only work if I held the plug in at a weird angle.

I wanted a new one so badly, because the charger the Z10 and Q10 comes with takes forever to charge them. I found BRAND NEW ones on ebay for $7.99 (free shipping). Now I'm back to quick charges.

    Answering my own question here:

    Charging Lithium-Ion Batteries

Increasing the charge current does not hasten the full-charge state by much. Although the battery reaches the voltage peak quicker with a fast charge, the saturation charge will take longer accordingly. The amount of charge current applied simply alters the time required for each stage; Stage 1 will be shorter but the saturation Stage 2 will take longer. A high current charge will, however, quickly fill the battery to about 70 percent.

The "standard" Playbook charger is sold by BB as the "rapid charger" for their phones. I used it with my 9930 for more than a year with no issues whatsoever and have been using it with the z10 but only for a bit more than a week (for how long I've had the z10)

Can I use my BlackBerry PlayBook tablet charger with my BlackBerry smartphone?
The answer to this question will depend on your model of BlackBerry smartphone. A BlackBerry PlayBook tablet charges or connects to a computer through a Micro USB connection. If your BlackBerry smartphone utilizes a Micro USB connection, then yes, your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet charger will also charge your smartphone.

Here's the link to the Premium Charger - note in the comments that it can be used for the Playbook. That's because it is the PB charger.

Ah, well, the PB's link to the same charger - scroll down for the image and link:

It does not harm the phone in any way.
Though usually I use the normal phone charger in the bedside.

There are some things we don't discuss in polite society!

As I wrote elsewhere, I decided to push my comfort level and try a full touchscreen. I went with a private sale at a reasonable price so my Verizon upgrade will still be out there and I did not lose UNlimited data.

I seriously miss the FULL BRIDGE. Why should I have to carry my phone down to the living room when the PB could provide my email, contacts, calendar, etc. And not by duplicating all of my accounts on the pb. Bridge was PERFECT. BB blew it - that opinion will not change unless they restore it and I doubt that they will.

I also seriously miss BIS. It provided terrific FILTERS on email so that my phone only got email from selected friends and relatives. The other stuff was retrieved on my computer. What a loss.
