I use a dual band router, with each band set up as a separate ssid. Works fine. I have 5.0 set up a priority on my Z10 and it connects to that and is great.

Problem is if I've been away for a while, or even in another part of the house where the 2.4 signal is better. After some time the Z10 will no longer even see the 5.0 ssid as available. I've tried shutting off wifi for a while but nothing works except rebooting the phone. Then it's back and connects to it. Any ideas or work arounds?

I'm still on the official Verizon 10.2.1 release, hoping 10.3.1 might fix this...?

5ghz signal doesn't reach as far as a 2.4ghz signal. I get the same issue with my Netgear router. An option i've been considering is purchasing a more expensive router but that's not happening soon.

Not an issue of distance, I'm in same room as the router! Once it vanishes nothing but a phone restart seems effective. On restart it's immediately available and automatically connects. Must be a bug in the 10.2.1 radio code. Hoping 10.3.1 fixes it...

I set up both bands to be able to connect on my z10. Sure I want the 5 ghz (a) band, but if the 2.4 ghz (n) gets picked up, no problem, wifi just a little slower.

I don't think its fixed. I just toggled wifi and scan didn't see 5GHz AP in the list of available AP's. Happily connected to the 2.4 AP.

Can your router actually broadcast both signals effectively? Some routers tend to emit weaker signals when in dual mode. I swear my pos Netgear is one of them.

No problem with the router. Remember that 5.9 Ghz doesn't penetrate walks as well, so it may appear weaker as you move farther from your router.

I guess I'm surprised that BlackBerry hasn't put more effort into wifi. Tests show that I typically get up to only about 20Mbps over wifi, while I've heard that iPhones seem to hit as high as 70. And I have a high speed connection, >100 Mbps.

I had problems reconnecting or staying connected and found that it was much more reliable if I set it up with the WPS button. Made a huge difference for my Z10 and Playbook. Both would occasionally refuse to reconnect automatically when configured manually. I was getting frustrated with the workaround which was to turn off the WiFi on the z10/playbook, wait, and then turn back on. I don't think I have dual band though.
