So I have a Z10 and I just bought 2 premium in-charge vehicle chargers after replacing the Verizon one's. I still get the **** message of "ACK" use charger that came with phone (in so many words), seriously! What other special things does this phone need?! I just want to charge the freaking phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Lightning connector.

J/K. If it's charging, then disregard the message, which is fairly common even on some BB-included vehicle chargers.

Ideally the charger that you've got will be rated at about 900mw or better. If it's a car charger there are only a few that actually put out nice clean power - some will allow up to 1.8A or so which is confusing because they often use different measurements.

So - aim as high as possible. You can't damage your phone because Amps are a maximum which can be drawn from the power source. At home or office: The PlayBook chargers work super and they are rated at either 1.8A (the folding blades version) or 2.0A (the so-called travel edition). For a car charger look for the highest draw possible. You're going to have to pay about $20-$25 for the one you want.

In case you're bored: The power P in watts (W) is equal to the current I in amps (A), times the voltage V in volts (V):P(W) = I(A) V(V)

Great info! I do use some cradles in the house using a palm pre cord plugged into outlet and they work great with no message and fast!

The message is whack, but hopefully there will be a way to disable it in future. That, or have it time out after 30 seconds, a minute, whatever. I only get the message when I use the charger that came with my Z10.

Sometimes I get the same message as well. It's pretty strange though.

Well, I guess I should not pay attention and continue charging. I'll have to take a short drive tonight and see what happens when I plug it in.

Are you saying that Battery Guru tells you that the BB car charger is a wall charger? Well, that's good, right?

THIS is the actual problem. The USB standard calls for a specific resistance in parallel that tells the device to charge at FULL CURRENT.

Apple cleverly screwed up with the USB standard by using a different resistor. NOW the market is flooded with "Apple compatible" usb chargers THAT WILL CONFUSE Blackberry, Android and Windows devices when charging.

Check this link for the proof and details:
De-Apple-tize Your USB Phone Charger. | Daniel Reetz

So if you buy one of those USB chargers (either wall or car adapters) conveniently sold near the cash register in big stores, chances are these will fool your blackberry into charging below 500ma and so the device will complain.

Looks to me like a dirt cheap move by Apple and find it curious only a few people have catch this. It should be made very public.
