the batteries in my Z10 don't normally last more than 12 hours so while traveling i frequently change the battery
each time i do this, the device indicates that the password has expired
once i have input a new password, i check the date/time and notice that it is months out of date - hence the password expired prompt
anyone either seen this or know a way of preventing constant password changes?
    thanks

Maybe someone knows if there's some internal battery that maintains "data" while the battery is out? Or it data such as the Password is written to some area that is maintained when the battery is removed. In any event, it should not lose time or password when the battery is removed. Warranty?

What device and OS do you have.

You can start and email and type

    myver (press spacebar)

and it will fill in the info. Post that back here.

Normally, things like that are stored on EPROM, which is not battery dependant. Other option is some server but that's unlikely... I would say OPs problem may be due to faulty ROM module but that's my opinion and don't quote this as a final diagnosis
