10.5 gb? Then it should be illegal to advertise it as 16gb usually like iPhone and when I first got the Z10, it left me about 13.5 gb free which is reasonable, so I'm reluctant to believe it would use up 10.5 leaving me just 6 :/

I've checked through the size of all my apps and altogether under 1gb, deleted some I thought might be loading offline maps etc but didn't make a difference, I don't have a lot of apps to be honest and they don't come up to anything near as 13gb

Anytime you get A computer or even just a standalone hard drive its always the same. It's how all companies advertise which for us consumers is sad because it's stretching the truth.

Hmmmm I see but still other people with similar problems have different Gb being taken up by 'other data' plus even a few days after I got the phone it was a reasonable size, it was only sometime later when I checked when I started getting memory warnings... so my question then would be why it wasn't like that when I first got it, another option I can think of is one of the two updates caused it, if that's the case then hopefully the next one will fix

I did a security wipe on mine because I thought it was to high as well. My apps added to about 2 gb. When I started playing my games I saw the number balloon to 5 gb. So there must be some app data or game data that gets added once you start using the apps. The initial download is probably just the raw size for the app and then maybe it adds or decompresses files.

I believe you are onto something!

I went through the screen shots and noticed a couples I have installed as well...

Deleted Jetpack joyride, and rebooted. Went from 5.7GB of "other data" down to 5.4.

Mine seems Ok do you see what I posted.

    6.2 gb Free

8.9 gb Other Data, this is probably my side loads or app data being saved from games, maps and so forth.

Add that up = 15.1 gb out of 16 gb

Single files- no probably not without wiping the game/app settings, or even the game/app itself (think core components on the SW level). More than likely, the other data is used for cached application settings for reference.

The rest is maybe as Naila had mentioned, once you download the app. itself, it probably decompresses, and referenced as "other" on the OS level.
