    Hi,

What is the best application/solution/method for opening .rar files [Z10]? Is there anything native/made for BB that will do this? Also, if there is, will it recognize characters with phonetic symbols in the file name and open/translate them correctly with those letters/symbols to correctly overwrite previously installed files?

    TIA!

PS: Thank you for the title update!

Tried Uncompressor, worked fine except recognizing special characters with phonetic symbols in the file name, didn't translate them correctly, dev is looking into this though.

Haven't tried it yet, but after your post, wrote to the dev and they said it recognizes special characters in the file names without issue. They didn't really say phonetic symbols, but will try it out and see . Would be nice if this capability was fully built into BB's built in unzip.

Do these third party archive tools add any real compression to their outputs? I'd be interested in nabbing one if they do!

UPDATE: Uncompressor received an update today, and it worked perfectly! Handled special characters with phonetic symbols in the file name excellently! Thanks to the dev, very well done! Now, well, just make it native ;-).

Uncompressor is my app of choice here as well. Both on the Z10 and Playbook.

I thought that I would revive this thread.
Now that BB10 has been out for 18 months maybe there are some even better choices out there.....
