My friend who lives in Dubai for a short time is here in Canada until midweek. She wants to buy a Z10 here outright and use it in Dubai and around the world where she travels extensively.

Where can she purchase the Z10 here and have it same day no contract?

Will there be any problem of using the Canadian version of Z10 overseas .. I know there are different model numbers and not sure what they mean.

Well in Dubai you can buy the z10 for 2499 dirhams. Sometimes on offer from deal sites for 2299. That's is $680- 627 USD unlocked and contract free. There are available on every street corner

I think a Rogers plus store is the only store that will sell without activation. I believe it's 650.

If she purchases the Z10 unlocked from Dubai with no contract.. Will she still be informed of updates straight from blackberry? Here we get carrier updates automatically and shes not techie enough to go searching the internet for a sideload os update. How does that work?

I got an unlocked phone in the UK and live in Belgium. I get the updates OTA. right now i have OS Version: 10.0.10.690 software release 10.0.10.90.

the phon just told me there was an update even tough it is not available in Belgium yet.
