Here's the situation: I have the "swipe to unlock" thing turned off, in order to save batterly life. So when my screen is black I need to press the button on top to unlock.

So yesterday I'm sitting on a plane waiting to take off. I couldn't remember whether I had turned off the phone or not, so I tap the top button to check, and of course it was turned off already but now it's going through the 3-minute startup routine. The flight attendant is asking me to turn it off, but I can't turn it off again until it finishes starting up!

Any solutions to this problem? Shouldn't the top button be a "long press" to turn the device on?

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Man i used to have the same issue since bb9780... and its bootup is a lot longer than z10. well, best solution i can say is battery pull.

I thought it was a long press to turn it back on. Hmmm. Tell the lady it's in flight mode and to calm down.

Take the train. But seriously, I had something similar. They do get impatient wanting to see the BLACK screen. I guess futzing with it in advance of the "final warning" is probably the way to go.
