I'm back to using a Z10 - Great device, always been the lack of of apps that's held me back from using it as my daily driver. I just got rid of my 5S and bought a Z10; installed 10.2.1 and am loving it. Just thought I'd offer my take on how my recent tour with Blackberry life has been going.
1. I've used a Z10 on and off since release. I've used every Android phone under the sun as well as every iPhone, most recently the 5S. Android is great and has its strengths. In my opinion, it offers too much customization for my liking. iOS is my favorite OS. I think Blackberry offers a middle of the road via grid of icons and flexibility to do things like install Android apps. I believe Blackberry has a really innovate OS.
2. Speaking of Android apps. I use Google Maps, Spotify, Huntington, and a few news apps. In my experience, they run fine, sometimes a little slow but I'd rather have the experience of BB10 and the few Android apps I want more than I would an Android phone and access to all the Android apps. Hasn't been "A better Android than Android" but I like having the Android apps I use the most.
On to the nuances of BB10 that I've noticed.
3. The notification volume seems really low. Maybe just my experience but it seems anything under 50% is inaudible.
4. I've noticed that the lock screen does not come on when I receive a notification. I wish it did so I could preview the notification.
5. This auto - start of the music player has been somewhat annoying for me. I don't have locally stored music so I don't need it and it just gets in the way. Seems like an odd choice to make that automatic. Also about music, I wish music metadata would show. I love having that. Always worked on my iPhone's but any other phone is hit and miss.
Overall, I love BB10. I believe it offers the most unique user experience out there. That's why I like it. Like many others, I wish there were more native apps but I'd say that's probably my only complaint. Oh, that and I wish more of my friends used BBM.
Everything I've said in this post is my opinion and experience over the last year with BB10.
