- Anybody else in the same boat? Was a long time BlackBerry user up to the 9700. Switched to the galaxy nexus and was super impressed with customizations and apps.
Not sure what to do. Loving the smoothness of the z10 but man was it fun with a rooted nexus and doing things the z10 can't even come close to.
Posted on my Z10..... while on the can03-24-13 10:55 AMLike 0 - If you prefer the Nexus go back to it. Nobody holding a gun to your head saying you gotta use the Z10. Each to his/her own. If you prefer the Nexus stick with it. Personally I will be sticking with my Z10 'cos it does all I want it to & some more still!

Posted on my Z10..... while on the can03-24-13 11:07 AMLike 26 - Sorry if the gun to the head part sounded a little heavy. Wasn't meant in that way. Just making the point that any phone whether it is a Blackberry, Iphone, Samsung, Nokia etc are personal choices based on many things, and one should just never join any herd mentality or succumb to any peer pressure to have a certain kind of phone.
03-24-13 11:10 AMLike 7 - These are the kind of responses that drive people away from BB...some folks in the community here can be too hostile and defensive at times..there are far fewer pricks over at X#A03-24-13 11:15 AMLike 8
- Lol! OK! My bad! However, if you read my post fully I did tell him/her that its each to their own & to stick with his/her Nexus if they prefer it. I hardly think that is hostile in anyway now!

- @knightly - I kinda get your point. Any phone is a personal choice. I have never understood why people will just come and post here just to say they are returning their phone. I get it when you are here asking for help to do something or requesting some functionality and you hope that BBry will see it. But just plain "I don't like it, I am taking it back" - sorry I don't get. What do you want? An applause? If you want to take it back, please do but we don't need to know nor do you need to ask our permission. That being said I think OP probably wanted to say he missed having a rooted android that gave him more control over the OS and some of the available apps. I am not sure he/she is in the boat of "I am taking it back"
And Btw, this is a blackberry fan site so if your criticism isn't legit expect somebody to jump down your throat :-)03-24-13 11:38 AMLike 6 -
Not everyone needs a great keyboard, needs to peek into their inbox anytime from anywhere, using one hand without a thumb extender, not everyone needs BBM, great multitasking and security...
And BB10 lacks a good map&navigation app, a huge battery, quad core and benchmark score, plus a million gimmicks that even you don't use it much but keeps it interesting and the owner bragging power (let's be honest here, we all want that more or less)
So you see, BB10 is not for everyone.03-24-13 11:41 AMLike 4 - Anybody else in the same boat? Was a long time BlackBerry user up to the 9700. Switched to the galaxy nexus and was super impressed with customizations and apps.

Other than waiting on the Skype app, I have the rest I use or at this point need. Been actually working with some of my iPhone friends to try and figure out what other apps they have that I would want. Not noticed anything that I can't get with BlackBerry.
Perhaps you can let us know what apps you miss, and what customizations you miss? Maybe we can suggest alternatives?
Posted via CB10 from my awesome Z1003-24-13 11:42 AMLike 0 - No worries. I have been on the internet long enough to know that you can't please people all of the time & there is always, ALWAYS somebody waiting in the wings to jump down your throat on anything (harmless or not) that you might say. ; )

The reason I use z10 over it is because the blackberry makes me more productive and it's built for communication which I do a lot of. If you are someone who likes to customize and mess around then go back to the nexus...
Posted via CB1003-24-13 11:44 AMLike 3 - I agree wholeheartedly with you on that.
I know what you mean. But not everyone is in the stage of their live that needs to get their shot done as soon as possible.

I find i didn't play much with apps and games. I am fine with one Angry Birds and Facebook and twitter. I have 2 other tablet (iPad Mini & N7) that i use for reading and playing around. Not to mention a laptop. I am more than happy with my Z10. Now if they can only fix Facebook chats & picture uploads and Pocket integration i'll be 100% happy. Hardest part for me will be to avoid buying the Q10 and be stuck deciding between 2 phones.03-24-13 11:48 AMLike 0
- Think of iPhone, Z10 and Android as a triangle where the vertices are gaming/entertainment, productivity/business, developer/hacker, respectively. I think each device specializes in its niche, and each offers a degree of penetration into the other areas. Some penetrate deeper than others (and this post will probably be flagged as p0rn).
I'd love to have the time to develop on and hack smartphones, but what I really need is a productivity tool with an occasional tangent to check Facebook, so Z10 is perfect for me. When (if) I finally get to developing, there is still plenty of learning to do on the BB platform to keep my occupied for years. But if my life revolved around seeing what I could make my smartphone do, I would go straight to Android. I have friends like this and I would never recommend Z10 to them. However, I have many more friends that are not so interested in developing and unless they REALLY need 2000 flashlight apps, I immediately show them the new BlackBerry.
At the end of the day, the right phone for you is the one that is the specialist in your principle area of interest.
Kudos to the OP for giving the Z10 a chance and not trashing it because it wasn't meeting his needs.03-24-13 11:58 AMLike 5 -
The OP's opening thread was mainly a statement with one question .. does anyone else on this BB site already bored with your new BB device because I am and then ending the posting with the a statement that a rooted nexus can do things that the z10 can't even come close to doing. The basic response to this kind of question/statement is make your own decision and do what's best for you - this was knighty2112 response; it still amazes me why people feel the need to post threads on an enthusiast site that think "another technology is better for me so I'm planning to leave it and is there anyone who's with me or feel's the same way I do"; to me it can border on the lines of trolling even though it may not be intended.
Again this is my opinion, but I feel I've been on this site long enough to understand what threads get people worked up and which threads are effective due to how they are worded.03-24-13 12:00 PMLike 4 - I'm a phone wh*re and pretty much try every platform out there. I've used webOS (loved the OS, hated the hardware, still miss it dearly), iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7 and 8, and of course, BlackBerry.
Android can be fun so I understand where you're coming from op. I customized mine a lot, had some cool widgets, changed my dock icons to simple text. All in all it looked like my phone and no one else's, which I liked. But, for everything else I just feel like it fell short. Things were never quite as smooth as I would hope for (even after 4.2 and project butter). Applications never seemed as good, the typing experience was nowhere near the BB Z10, even using swype or swiftkey IMO. I felt like it really suffered when it came to cohesiveness as an OS. That's why Android will never be my number 1 unless they address a ton of things. It doesn't mean it's not perfect for someone else though. For now I really love the usefulness of being able to use gestures. It reminds me a lot of webOS which was my favorite OS from a UI standpoint. In the end it's all up to you. You have to decide which features make a phone more useful to YOU. No one else.nycspaces. and tp2386 like this.03-24-13 12:03 PMLike 2 - It's OK. I am just in a humorous frame of mind today. Alas not everyone gets it always and takes it the wrong way sometimes!
(Note to self; try to be more serious when replying to any threads) - There, that should do it! ; )
I think my wording was fine. And it really is all about the wording here on Crackberry - respect vs. disrespect. Not that I think you are disrespecting. Our community gets our fair share of trolls jumping on here to bash blackberry devices. We need to keep in mind this is a Blackberry enthusiast first. Go to any other site (iMore, Windows Phone Central, Android Central, etc.) and say a hint of something against their technology.. you'll get it worse than on Crackberry. The 3 other phone technologies do quite well in the States (for the most part), BB is playing catch up there and there are fans here that have stuck with BB through thick and thin and that includes all the abuse in the community and outside. I really didn't see an issue with knighty2112 response. When email or texting a response, it can be (not in all cases) easy to interpret differently what the individual is trying to convey.

Anyhow no I don't miss my s3 at all, am glad I got my z10 even with the customisation that android gives its users, I can't say I miss the buginess and inefficiency of android as a whole.
But op if your missing your nexus4 then best to go back to it. The z10 will never be as customisable as android and I'm quite happy with that. I bought a BlackBerry not another android wannabe.
