Yeah they are slow on updates. However I was in my local Verizon store tonight Christmas shopping and was surprised (and pleased) to see the Z10 the Q10 and the Z30 all three prominently displayed. Right out amongst the iPhone and Android handsets.

Yeah. Weird thing is I was there to get an iPhone 5C for my Mom as a gift. So I was over in the iPhone area (which is ONLY iPhones, yes). Then one of the sales guys I had bought my wife's Z10 from -- recognized me. He said "have you seen the Z30 yet?". I told him "not in person". So then he pointed right over in the middle of the all the Android phones. I went over and the Z30 and Q10 where side by side on the main wall. The Z10 was over sort of off the main wall but still in the floor center with some other phones.

Pretty cool.

Ok, I took the plunge. Updating to 10.2 as I write this . . . so far so good. Phone is booting up now.

Ok, that was relatively painless. Phone seems to be working. Running a bit hot but I've read that's expected at first. Now I'm restoring my backed up data.

Be prepared to wait (I guess it may depend on the size of your backup. Mine was 2GB). Just hit 50% after about 20 minutes.

Ok, backup data restored, phone restarted . . . after waiting about 30 minutes I received a pop up saying that my data could not be restored due to a wrong PIN number or incorrect device. However, all of my apps, email accounts and photos appear to be on the phone. I will report more tomorrow.

Forget my feeling it leaks. In this case, I'm responding to the comment that it would "be 100% bit-for-bit the same as Verizon would eventually release." Since the Verizon model is very unique given its CDMA situation, I find this statement to be patent false and misleading.

It will be pretty much certain that the US will get 10.2.0 in January and 10.2.1 later then the rest of the world.

The reasoning behind this? It's so illogical that we don't even know.

1. Lost some contacts.
2. Lost the Password Keeper app along with all the data.

These two issues are one or a combination of two issues:

Likely, the biggest issue was that the error prompt you got was for the "settings" data of your backup, which stores your contacts (stored on your device), some app info like that for Password Keeper, text messages, BBM messages, etc. If you don't wan't/can't restore Settings, best bet for contacts is to store the with an email account like Outlook or Gmail, and once you log into your email accounts on your phone it'll repopulate your contacts list. For Password Keeper, not sure of a firm solution for that, but a cloud-based solution may work better for you (like LastPass).

Or, it could be that your data completely restored hut some was corrupted. You could attempt a second restore if you wanted to and see if you get better results. Not sure if you need to do a Security Wipe first though.

2. I remember reading a thread way back about Password Keeper not showing up after an OS update. The solution for that particular issue was to download Password Keeper again from BlackBerry World then sign in and all the passwords repopulated. Don't know if that would work for you or not.
