I was looking for this particular security setting and could not find it. Did they remove it and if so why?!

I'm not sure, but I could not find it either.
QNX does have an iptables-based firewall built-in, but unfortunately, it is currently not enabled.. That said, I'm not really interested in this style of firewall (although I'd take it if there's nothing else available); instead I would *REALLY* love to see an implementation of the old BBOS-style "personal firewall", which would pop-up and block applications/sites on a real-time basis vs. the current practice of just granting blanket internet access permission to apps at install time.. Even if it were a BES-only feature: just means I'd go ahead and set up my own BES to support.. I *really* want to be able to see what sites apps are trying to access, vs the current model of "you downloaded through BBWorld, it's probably safe"..
