I just purchased a Blue tooth and NFC enabled speaker. The NFC is awesome. I'm on wifi for the streaming, NFC on one speaker and Blue tooth for my phone. Answering calls, and streaming music. Just plain awesome!!!

Um, NFC isn't actually a streaming method. What NFC does is establish communication between your phone and the speakers, but it's actually either Bluetooth or WiFi that carries the media stream.

That might sound picky, but it's an important distinction.

That's what the OP said, not that I'm being picky hehe. Good description of how NFC functions.

OK. I'm not hooked up to Blue tooth while I'm listening, and there is no wifi on the speaker, so I'm wondering how it works.

I'll have to look closely at what is on when I get home. Either way, to hook up the speaker is super easy with NFC.

The ones I've seen turn on blue tooth or wifi when you tap for NFC. And turn blue tooth or wifi off when when you turn speaker off.

Must be blue tooth or wifi. Doesn't nfc only have a range of a few cm.

Yup. That is correct. I still love it. Tap and the sound is on. I'm listening to Howard Stern right now while typing.
