Got a Z10 for my brother. We're used to BB5 and BB7 so I've got some questions.

Obviously there is no back button or menu button. How do you go backwards out of something? Or is it just swiping up to go back to the home screen?

Also, he's coming from a curve 8520 on BB5 to this Z10. BB link only transferred his contacts and nothing else, such as sms and calendar. Is that normal?

The above link makes it sound like everything should be brought over with immense ease but it is not.

Usually apps will have a back button in bottom left hand of screen. But if you just want to go back to home then swipe up from bottom of screen.

I almost always go up and to the right in one motion out of habit to see if I have any new msgs in my hub. Then swipe from right to left from there.

As far as I know, some apps don't offer the bottom bar with the back button such as the third-party Twitter application, Neatly. If this happens, then swiping from the left side of the screen to the right should do the trick.

Home screen - swipe up from bottom
Previous page /back - swipe from left to right of the screen.

Anyone have any opinion on transferring data from the old 8520 to the new Z10, and what should and shouldn't transfer over…?

When I got my new Z10, all my data back in my 9900 ( Music, photos, videos ) was in a media card. So it was as sinple for me as just moving that over to the Z10. For contacts, if it's saved onto your SIM, then just have it cut into a micro SIM.

Applications are your pick. There's a much bigger selection in BlackBerry World.
