I just discovered a new way to hide the keyboard when you are done texting or BBMing. Instead of holding the space bar or doing the double thumb swipe you do a right hand thumb swipe up from the bottom to the right and then back down again all in one swipe. When you swipe up you will see the hub appear and as you swipe down the keyboard disappears. Not sure if this is new but I'm not a fan of a double thumb swipe. I like PlayBook corner keyboard swipe.

What I like to do(hate the 2 finger swipe also), is just tap anywhere outside of a text field. You can also swipe left to right to bring you back to the hub.

    I like the Smile swipe!

Is there also a way to get up the keyboard with one thumb?

I know. But when you are in WhatsApp, favourits, and like to find a contact, you just have to start typing the name you are looking for. You need the keyboard for that.

    The smiley-swipe only works writing a message/email.
