    Hi guys,

new around here. After testing more or less everything i decided to switch to BB and in few days i'm gonna receive my Z10. Can't wait and want to get all the juice of my new device. Been reading around about the new sw updates but there is so much info that i got a bit lost. Here are a few questions i hope somebody help me to sort out:

    - wich version should i download? Looks like some earlier version are better than last ones? .apk direct installation is a must for me.
    - will i need to force installation or my device will find the new update and install it OTA?
    - anything i should beware and stay away from?

    Thanx u all.
    Cheers

You need to have at least 10.2.1.1055 to get direct .APK installation. That stated, most likely, you will need to load a leak... Loading the leak is quite easy and can be done as easily as running the autoloader.exe file for whichever leak you choose and plugging in your device.

Personally I would only upgrade via the Software Update feature of the phone and get used to what the Z10 has to offer before heading into the world of leaks.

Which country are you in? If it's the US, then yeah, you probably should install a leak as it doesn't look like the telecoms companies there will ever push out updates. Anywhere else it's fine just to wait for official updates, unless you really want to play around with leaks by which case go ahead!

I'm actually living in Brazil, and what i can tell is that updates arrive here (IF they arrive) very very late. That said i've always been into rooting droids and jailbreaking iphones, so i guess i'll go on this way also with BB, also because i've been reading that 10.2.X improve battery life and other things that i consider quite important.
BTW, wich's the latest official update?
Thanx very much guys, all info appreciated
    cheers

Why? In reality, what's the difference in terms of getting used to the device?

I would recommend getting to know the official os before loading any leaks. This allows you to know what it should be like so that you know the difference when something is messing up or not functioning. Take about a week or so with the official release, then if you want go ahead and load the leak.

Why so hurry to install an updated OS ?
Have the one which comes with your Z10 for a while and then update it so that you know what is the difference and you can enjoy it more then.

Since you enjoy rooting and jailbreaking, your gonna LOVE your new BB10. Because to get the most out of this OS you will want to load the latest leaked os, which as I stated earlier is .1925.

That is what is making owing a BB10 fun for me, is the ability to leak and tweek consistently.

Thanx everybody for tips and suggestions. I will wait before install the leak......well, i'll try to wait at least one day just to get a bit familiar with the device. I'm loving it without even having it! Yet!
Btw, got on ebay in UK for 255 euros (225 gbp): a great price imho compared to prices of similar phones out there.

With all this leaks available it is very possible that official 10.2.1.xxxx is near. So in my opinion it's best to use latest official for couple weeks and get familiar with phone and os. While you do that official will be out. And if get inpatient you can install leak.
Easiest way to install new os is OTA update from phone itself. If your carrier doesn't have latest official you can update it with Sachesi. But as soon as possible install 10.2.0.429 os, it's much better than 10.0.0.xxx.
