I v been a I phone user since it came out and recently switched to the z10. And I don't know anyone who uses BBM or BlackBerry pin. Am I missing out on anything?! I mostly use WhatsApp

You're not missing out on anything ... Just that BBM is only for bb while whatsapp is cross platform ...

BBM is like a really good version of WhatsApp, with awesome features like screenshare, but really it is just another messaging system and if you don't have friends who use it its no use to you.

BlackBerry really should have made it multi platform.

BBM 's cachet comes from it long predating other messaging services like WhatsApp, back in a time when texting was really expensive.

Also as I understand it BBM isn't stored anywhere except the phones involved and is scrambled whilst being transmitted, so if you're running a sensitive business (or planning a riot) then there is a lot more security than other messaging systems.

Ah, yes, just another joker who wants to keep reminding us that BBM was allegedly used to plan unrest in the UK a few years ago.

I read the other day where the ATF in America caught a whole drug ring in LA by monitoring their BBM messages.

The "Unrest" was already there under the surface.

The read notification is a big difference compared to whatsapp. Also, the group functionality us greatly underrated. For example group calendar and lists. My wife and I use these a ton and with BBM it's so easy. Nothing like that with texting and whatsapp.

I don't have that many either, russmov. Most of my friends have Iphones.

I'm still learning about this phone, but how do you 'voice chat?' Do you have to already be in the video chat mode?

Everyone I know and their mothers have a iphone. I have yet to try out BBM on the z10. I do remember back in the day when everyone would use BBM and had a blackberry. Those where the days. Still love my BlackBerry!
