    Right ....

Laptop on the same wifi as the Z10

Go to storage on the Z10's settings and enable "Access by Wifi" enter reqd password twice

On laptop open the Z10's share by \\x.x.x.x (where x.x.x.x is the wifi IP address it's on)

Navigate to SD card transfer files.

Go to Z10 and disable "Access by Wifi"

    ..... and here's the oddness.

Even tho' it's access via wifi is disabled the laptop can still access the files on the z10, it seems that once the session is authenticated it continues to "work".

Had to turn the wifi off and back on on the Z10 to get it to secure itself again.

Would have expected a bit tighter security from a security conscious company

It's no different than a lot of settings that require a restart of the process to apply changes. You also have the fact that your computer now has a cached credential for your handset for that logon session. If you logged off your computer and logged back in after turning off wifi sharing you'd have the same result of the change applying. It's more or less a logic issue more than anything else.
